Ek Mahanayak – Dr. B.R. Ambedkar 2nd March 2020 Written Episode
Ganga runs away followed by Ram ji. He tells everyone else to stay at home before leaving. On her way, Ganga overhears Mangesh and his friend discussing about where they left Ganga’s husband and how bruised he is. Ram ji also stops for a moment to listen to their convo. Ganga finds her husband and holds him tightly. What happened to you? Please wake up. Ram ji comes there just then. He lifts him on his shoulders and they run all the way home.
Everyone tends to Ganga’s husbands wound in the night. Bheema tells his Baba they should report this incident to police captain but Ram ji reasons that it can happen only in morning.
Next morning, Ganga’s husband wakes up and notices his wife sleeping on the floor next to his cot. He taunts her for sleeping peacefully when her husband is badly bruised. She sits up. Why did you come here? This wouldn’t have happened if you hadn’t come here. He again asks her to come with him. She refuses. He asks her why she isn’t agreeing to come back home. Do we not take care of you? Don’t you get food to eat there? Do we hit you? Say something. She replies that there is no point saying anything as till now he hasn’t realised what has been bothering her. One only feels pain when someone hits them but his actions hurt her more than that. He tells her to go away. I am not interested in hearing your lecture. She heads to the kitchen area. Bheema says you must listen. You wouldn’t know things otherwise. You wont even know how you came here. I will tell you. Everyone looks on quietly. Bheema relates that they were drinking tea at home when Ganga Didi started feeling very restless. She ran out of the house and found you. Baba lifted you on his shoulders and brought you home. Baba and Aayi always say that people who share real connection can feel the pain of each other without saying anything. Didi must have experienced something similar. She sat next to you the entire night yet you think she is lecturing you? Meera pats at Bhimbai’s arm who tells Bheema Ganga hasn’t done any favour. This is the dharma of every wife. Any lady will do the same seeing her husband in pain. She wont just go and sleep. Ganga’s husband looks at Ganga. Meera says I don’t know how Ganga’s husband is living his dharma but I am glad that Ganga is doing her best.
Ram ji brings police captain home. Mangesh wonders what he is doing here. Ram ji asks his SIL to give his statement. Bhimbai says he wont be able to come outside. Police captain says I wont be able to come outside. I will ask from here. He asks Ganga’s husband who has hit him. He is unable to hear Ganga’s husband though. Mangesh sends a villager to bring Dhansukhlal (Dhansukhlal Seth). Ram ji offers to note down his SIL’s statement in the police register. Police captain hands him the register (by cleverly avoiding touching it). He starts writing his SIL’s statement.
Dhansukhlal asks police captain why he is here in the morning. Police captain tells him not to lecture him. I told you to keep quiet for a while but no one listened to me! Mangesh says they were flying too high. There is a limit to everything after all! Police captain tells them to fly now. You are badly stuck now. Dhansukhlal tries to bribe him with a gold ring but police captain tells him it is of no use. Mangesh shouts loudly but Dhansukhlal gestures him against it. Mangesh says this isn’t the first time we have hit someone from their caste. We have done it in the past also and you have helped us cover things up. What has happened to you now? Police captain says we cannot do anything now. This was taken to court. We have been warned of consequences. We are under Lord Governor’s pressures. Villagers get tensed. Ram ji has been Subedar in military. Don’t mess with him or this matter will be handled by Lord Governor himself. It is about British army. Britishers wont let anyone mess with their people!
Ram ji gets his SIL’s thumb impression and returns the register to police captain. He reads the report and arrests Dhansukhlal, Mangesh and the third guy who was with them. Dhansukhlal and Mangesh glare at Ram ji. One villager blocks Dhansukhlal’s way. Not much time has passed so I am sure you would remember how Ram ji was being taken away in a similar position a few days away. He was being framed in a false case! His family was begging you guys for help. I dint think this day would come so soon. Spend your time to jail thinking about that incident. The time will pass quickly. Dhansukhlal spits on him angrily. The guy slaps him tight. Police captain questions their actions. He stops Dhansukhlal from harming the guy. Dhansukhlal warns the guy of consequences. Let me come back! He notices Dhruv on his way. Dhruv advises him to come back as a changed man. Dhansukhlal tries to slap him but police captain stops him. Dhruv leaves after glancing in Bheema’s direction.
Bheema tells his Baba this wouldn’t have happened if he wasn’t a retired Subedar. His Baba nods. Bheema says not even will have that kind of a background. How will everyone get justice then? Ram ji says I don’t know. Bheema says everyone should get justice. When will that happen? Ram ji says it will happen someday. In reality law will win when even a common man will be able to get justice. Bheema assures him that when he will grow up he will make it possible for people from all backgrounds to get justice. People will live freely. Ram ji looks at Bhimbai. He cups Bheema’s face proudly and hugs him.
Villagers are discussing the incident. They are unable to digest the fact that someone from a lower community has filed a case against people from their community. We cannot do anything! Another villager says even the jeweller was sent to jail. What can we do? An old guy says this will only boost their morale. We must retaliate to make sure they go back to how they were! One guy suggests waiting for the right time to give them a fitting reply. Old guy says balance must be maintained in castes. This is how e will be able to preserve our religion. One must pick up weapons at times to do the same.
Ambedkar ji and Guru ji are sure villagers must be planning to retaliate right now. They wonder when this will end. Ambedkar ji says balance will come; struggle will end when no one will belittle anyone. Bheema asks him how they can attain a balance in relations. Jija ji thinks Didi does not care about him but it isn’t the case. Why cannot Didi explain things to him? Who is stopping him form understanding? All this is troubling me.
Precap: Ganga’s husband seeks Sakpal family’s permission to take Ganga with him. Bheema says we will celebrate your departure. It won’t be that simple. They bid adieu to Ganga and her husband happily with music and dance. Villagers seethe seeing them happy and think Sakpal family would be doing this intentionally to rub salt to their wounds. Later, Villagers taunt Ram ji when he is going somewhere with Manjula and Tulsa. Bhimbai stops Bheema from reacting.
