Ek Mahanayak – Dr. B.R. Ambedkar 22nd February 2021 Written Episode
Epi begins with Jijabai telling the girls to do puja first thing in the morning after bathing. Anand declines. We believe in Kabir and Tukaram. God is inside us. We must take care of everyone. Meera and Chandrakala look on. Jijabai says it is good that everyone already knows what’s to be done and what’s not to be done. Chandrakala thinks of Maharaj’s words. Kids resume their work. Meera explains to Jijabai that everyone thinks differently. You will slowly begin to understand their point of view. You will take time but everything will be fine. Kids will also understand. Jijabai goes inside.
Chandrakala walks up to Meera. It is true. They are kids. People like us can help Jijabai find a balance with the kids. Please understand that these kids will accept Jijabai as their Aayi the sooner they will accept her as a DIL. I am not saying that you aren’t doing that but she should be given more love, respect so she can rightfully look after the kids. Meera says I don’t understand. chandrakala offers to explain.
Champa’s Boss asks Bhima about Champa. He recalls what Champa had said to him last night. Champa’s Boss says I have looking for her since last night but then someone told me that you have been here since last night. You must be the reason behind her disappearance. Bhima denies. She left on her own. She has made up her mind. No one can stop those who once you begin to do that. She picks up a stick to hit him but Ram ji holds it. Bhima’s father is still alive. No one can dare to touch my son till I am alive! She throws the stick away. Ask him where he has sent Champa. Ram ji threatens to gather people or approach police captain if she wont leave quietly. She leaves.
Ram ji sits next to his son. You might have been 3.5 or 4 years old when you were throwing tantrum over something. Your Aayi kept you under a tree outside the house. You kept crying the entire night. You then remained upset with her for keeping you outside and sleeping inside peacefully. Bhima says I was very small then. Maybe that’s why I wouldn’t have understood that Aayi wouldn’t have slept either that night. She might have cried as well. Ram ji says she cried the entire night. Years later, you were away from home the entire night yesterday. You have grown up now so you would understand it. What will your Baba go through if you wont come home? Let’s go home now. Bhima keeps his hand in his Baba’s hand.
Meera gives Bhimbai’s jewellery to Jijabai. Chandrakala smiles. Jijabai is about to hold them but Chandrakala tells her to spread her pallu. She next asks Meera to give them like a blessing. Bhima holds Meera’s hand. How can you give my Aayi’s jewellery to someone else? I wont let it happen. Meera tells him to understand that she is his new Aayi now. She has a right on them. Bhima counters her. Meera reasons that Jijabai is Baba’s second wife now. This is rightfully hers. Bhima declines. Ram ji asks Bhima what he will do with them. He says I may do anything but they belong to my Aayi. Jijabai seconds Bhima. Give them to Bhima. Everyone’s happiness lies in Bhima’s happiness and I will find mine in yours too. She gives Bhimbai’s jewellery to Bhima and goes outside followed by Chandrakala.
Meera tells her brother that they must speak to Bhima. He must know his limits and how he should behave with someone. Ram ji says he is a kid. He will understand. Meera denies. Showering love on kids who do not have a mother actually spoils them. It ends up breaking the house as well. Don’t make this mistake.
Chandrakala tells Jijabai she will be left will nothing this way. Who lets go of their right wilfully? You don’t understand that you have to make your place in that house. I am not greedy. That jewellery would have stayed with you. I worry for you. Jijabai says I understand but you don’t understand that I couldn’t say anything inside. Would it have looked good if I had argued with Bhima for jewellery? I would have been considered greedy then. Bhima will end up giving me that jewellery himself. Chandrakala says when Bhima sets his mind on something then he will make it happen. You don’t know him. Jijabai shares that she married Ram ji as she found him to be a nice guy. I wont just become who others want me to. I don’t care who comes in my way. Chandrakala says Bhima is and will be the only obstacle in that house. She leaves. Jijabai thinks of her words.
Bala and Tulsa ask Bhima why he is acting like this. You used to share your stuff with others as well. Why do you suddenly crave for Aayi’s jewellery now? Bala reasons that they all love Aayi but she is sadly no more. Baba has married Jijabai. She is our second Aayi now. Anand says even I don’t accept her as my Aayi. She may be your Aayi but she cannot be Bhima and my Aayi. He sits with Bhima. Now I will see who will snatch this jewellery from Bhima and give to her!
Ram ji tells Jijabai not to misunderstand Bhima. He is very giving but he is attached to his Aayi a lot. She reminds him of what he had told her last night. I must accept everyone as they are. I have no option but to accept everything that you say. Ram ji tries to say something but she says I am not the one who breaks homes. Silence fixes many things sometimes. It isn’t only about jewellery. For a new bride, her husband and jewellery are equally important but when a widow gets remarried, her husband is of utmost importance. Jewellery loses its importance. Go outside. I will bring tea for everyone and milk for Bhima. Please let everyone as they are. Didi was also saying that things will change with time. I would not want you to say anything to Bhima.
Bala asks Anand why he is supporting Bhima too. Anand tells him to let it be. I don’t want to understand. Bala asks him if he does not care about what his elder brother is saying. Anand replies that even he failed to understand his little brother’s pain. Ram ji asks Bhima to give the jewellery to Bhima. Bhima refuses but Ram ji says it is my order. Get up now. Bhima looks at his mother’s jewellery. He keeps them on the cot. Aayi used to say that her jewellery is to be distributed amongst us kids equally. He gives everyone their share. He has kept her earrings for himself. He recalls the incident where they got her earrings back recently. These are mine. It isn’t because I am greedy but because they are very dear to me. He walks up to his Baba. I know that you are hurt by my behaviour but my Aayi was and will always be my biggest treasure. I had no intention of hurting you or anyone else.
