Ek Mahanayak – Dr. B.R. Ambedkar 20th December 2019 Written Episode
I weight the success of any community by the progress made by women here.
Bheema asks his father if he can go out to play. Ram ji tells him this is a new place for them. You don’t know where to go. His wife seconds him. Bheema says I saw a ground in the backside. Kids were playing there. Ram ji asks him what if someone asks him his name. Bheema says Bheema Rao Satpal but his father tells him to say Bheema Rao Ambawadekar. Bheema shoots him a confused look but his father nods.
Mangesh instigates people against Ram ji and his family.
Ram ji’s wife asks her husband what he is teaching Bheema. Bheema points out that he uses Satpal so he should use it too. Ram ji says we should use our village name to make it proud too. Bheema asks his brother Anand to come but he refuses. No one knows us here. Their mother seconds him but Bheema says we must go to make people aware of their presence.
Ram ji’s wife says changing name wont hide the truth. Ram ji says we need to shelter the plants till the time they grow. They must learn to stand on their own.
Kids are playing cricket. Bheema catches the ball. One kid asks him his name. Bheema tells him. The kid recalls seeing Bheema with Ram ji and of Mangesh’s warning. The kid refuses to let Bheema play with them. He also advises his friends against it. Bheema sits down in a corner sadly. The ball falls in a puddle. They are hesitant to pick it. The same kid asks Bheema to get the ball out of the drain water. You can play with us then. Bheema makes faces. Another kid says you must bring the ball if you want to play. Bheema recalls doing gardening with his father. He makes an unhappy face seeing his dirty hands. Ram ji tells him to do what he likes even if the process of doing it isn’t something that you enjoy. Bheema tells him he does not understand his words sometimes. Ram ji smiles. You will remember them at the right time and will understand it too. Bheema smiles as he picks it. The kids ask him to clean it with the clean water in another corner and wipe it clean with his clothes. He follows their instructions. He throws the ball at the kids who tell him to stay put. You can clean the ball for us whenever it will fall in that drain. This is also a game. His friends laugh. Bheema begins to go but the same kid teases him again. Who will get our ball out of that drain?
Bheema gets out of them. He picks up stuff and makes his own ball. He is disturbed by the afternoon incident and throws the ball angrily at the ball. Bheema is unable to sleep at night. He looks at the ball.
Ram ji calls out to his sons. Bheema, Bala and Anand join them. Their mother gives them lunch. One of the sisters (Manjula) gives Bheema his favourite chilli pickle. He will think of his grandmother after eating it! Everyone smiles.
The laundry guy collects clothes from nearby house. Manjula and Tulsa ask him to take their clothes as well but he outright refuses. I have heard about you guys. I wont wash your clothes. He looks down upon them. A neighbour says you are also like them. The laundry guy says people run away from their shadow even. I am better. Don’t intervene in this matter. Ram ji’s sister stands there stunned. Her SIL asks her daughters to come inside. we will wash the clothes.
Ram ji and his sons reach school. Principal asks for their surname. Ram ji says Ambawadekar. Principal and the teacher shoot them a confused look.
Bheema fights with the kids for his seat. They refuse to sit with him but he insists upon sitting there only. Even Bala fails in stopping him. Teacher scolds Bheema instead. He asks him to stand outside the class and study from there only. Bheema argues that he wont be able to see from there but the teacher isn’t convinced. Bala and Bheema peek inside from the window. Bheema and Bala are unable to see anything clearly. Bala suggests him to focus on hearing them out instead. Bheema requests his teacher to speak loudly. We cannot hear anything. The kids laugh. Teacher repeats Bheema’s words. He continues teaching the rich kids. Bala sits down dejectedly but Bheema continues to focus. He stands at the door instead but the teacher is speaking slower than before. Bheema says I cannot hear or understand anything. Teacher taunts him that whatever he is hearing is enough for him. You wont become Barrister after growing up anyways. Stay put. Bheema gets sad.
Precap: Ram ji says tomorrow we have to fight the battle of getting inside the classroom to study. This will be your biggest test. Mangesh threatens Ram ji’s friend. Later, Mangesh throws water at Mangesh but Ram ji covers him. He uses Mangesh’s Angrakha to wipe Bheema clean. Mangesh and his friends raise a stick to hurt Ram ji but holds the stick and shouts at them. Do you think I wont retort? He walks away with his sons. You have to raise your voice to fight against injustice sometimes or people begin to think they are right.
