Ek Mahanayak – Dr. B.R. Ambedkar 10th March 2020 Written Episode
Tulsa tells her mother she does not want to take part in any competition. Manjula seconds her. How will we win? Bheema says think about challenging the society. They tell him to challenge the society as much as he wants to. Don’t pull us into all this. Both girls tell their Baba they were so happy in the morning when they went to Pune with him. We went to study and not fight. Had we known this will happen, we wouldn’t have gone at all. Ram ji reasons that studies and fight are sisters like Tulsa and Manjula. They look at their mother. Bhimbai tells her husband not to drag their daughters in this fight. It is enough! We will go from here. You also said that you found a job away from here. we are done! He asks her if they should run away because of fear. Meera reasons that it isn’t wrong to make their lives easier. Ram ji says we will apologize and back off from this competition. Bhimbai nods. Tulsa tells him to understand. They are stronger than us. Plus, the fight is with boys. Bheema seconds him. I will tell them that Didi isn’t running away. Let’s not make this a question of dignity. Two girls call out to Tulsa and Manjula. They are the same girls who are keen to study as well. They are hiding themselves with sacks so as to avoid being seen by anyone. Boys step outside while all females look out from the window. One girl says we came here to tell you that they might be the ones participating tomorrow but all the girls will win or lose tomorrow. Another girl says it isn’t that we like you or your community but this gives us hope that we too might be able to study one day!
Villagers decide to show Ram ji his real place in the society tomorrow. His daughters wont be able to stand in front of our boys! We will oust him and his family from the village tomorrow. Old guy says the competition will be such that the girls will lose anyhow!
Girls say everything will become easier for the coming generations if you will win tomorrow’s competition. Tomorrow’s victory or defeat will be our victory or defeat! They leave. Tulsa and Manjula tell their Baba and Bheema not to say anything to the villagers. We will face whatever challenge is thrown to us. Ram ji hugs them. All boys chip in for the group hug.
Next morning, everyone is gathered for the competition. Chandan and Raju will represent the villagers. Both kids seek their mother’s blessings. One lady does not bless her son for victory. She thinks she cannot bless him for victory today as all women will lose if he wins!
Ram ji steps forward with his girls. The old guy tells Ram ji to stop his girls from taking part in the competition. It can still be cancelled. You will have to leave this village if they lose this competition! Ram ji looks at them confidently. Guru ji calls for blindfolds. Everyone will be blindfolded. One man will stand next to every kid. They must follow the sound and head in that direction. If you walk in the opposite direction then the kid will hear the sound of another bell to find the right direction. If the kid isn’t back on track even then, then the kid will be eliminated from the competition. We will be able to gauge mental and physical capabilities of the kids this way!
All 4 kids are blindfolded. Bhimbai and Meera get tensed but Ram ji tells them to wait and watch. Our girls shoulder the responsibility of every girl’s education. They may win or lose but this will bring about a change. Bhimbai doesn’t mind if they lose. He calls his girls his soldiers. Every generation will remember what our girls have started.
While blindfolding the boys, the teacher tells them about the direction they should run in and what the first huddle is about. Anand is worried that Tulsa and Manjula have no such experience. How will they manage? Ram ji tells him to wait and watch.
Competition begins. Bell rings. Boys move in the right direction of the sound whereas Manjula and Tulsa are seen running in opposite direction. Bheema calls out after them to stop them. Ram ji tells them are headed in the wrong direction. The girls have to wait for 30 seconds for the second bell to ring now. Ram ji is advised not to speak in between.
Second guy guides the boys about the maze. Anand says the voice is echoing here. How will the girls know which direction they must go into? Bheema wonders how the boys ran in the right direction. They aren’t even that smart!
The boys get stuck in the maze. Sakpal family is eagerly waiting for the second bell to ring. Ram ji tells his daughters to focus on the second bell. Manjula tells Tulsa villagers are trying to distract them with the noise. It is echoing. We should follow the first sound that comes. Tulsa nods. It is just like we should do when we play hide and seek. Manjula nods. We must listen carefully. Second bell rings. The girls run in right direction this time. Sakpal family smiles.
Precap: Boys fail in the second round whereas the girls win that round. They all remove their blindfold later on.
