Eeji Pandey to return to Lapataganj next week
Country Roads, take me home
To the place I belong
In this classic John Denver song titled Country Roads, the singer’s hometown West Virginia is described as ‘almost heaven’. The quaint town of Lapataganj in SAB TV’s Lapataganj – Ek Baar Phir (Garima Productions) may apparently not seem remotely heavenly; in fact it may be hellish existence for many as its inhabitants suffer from the scarcity of basic elements like water and electricity. What helps them to tide over all the adversities is the selfless love and affection they have for one another which binds together.
Next week Eeji Pandey (Abbas Khan)- the unemployed twin brother of Biji Pandey (Abbas Khan)- will return to the series. The ‘good for nothing’ Eeji whose motto in life is to take it easy, after months of being out of employment will be shown as a cop in Surat. He will decide to return to his hometown Lapataganj to embrace the responsibility of protecting his town as its police inspector.
Like the concluding lines of Country Roads which goes as, ‘And drivin’ down the road I get the feeling, that I should have been home yesterday, yesterday,’ he will be happy to return to his native place. After all, ‘there is no place like home.’ The town folk will warmly embrace the return of the native.
Abbas Khan told us, “Eeji will be happy to return to Lapataganj. Agreed that his town suffers from water and electricity shortage but the situation has improved from Season 1. The residents will continue to suffer as long as there is government apathy but that won’t dissuade him from returning to the place. He will turn out to be a fearless cop who instead of instilling fear in people wins them over with genuine concern, love and affection. This character will spread resplendent positivity all around. Isn’t the aim of good comedy to eradicate negativity?”
Yes, indeed…Abbas…we wish you all the best!!!
