Dharma’s role was challenging for me – Pallavi Subhash

Actress Pallavi Subhash talks about portraying a heroic character of Dharma in Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat.

Actress Pallavi Subhash who has essayed various characters on screen, will now be experimenting with genres as well. While Pallavi has showcased her skills in a mythological show, Mahabharat, she will be seen on small screen in a power packed performance with Colors’ Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat.

We ask Pallavi about her character and more…

Tell us about the character you are playing in the show?

I am playing the character of Dharma. Initially her name was Subhadrangini but Bindusara (Sameer Dharmadhikari) addresses her as Dharma. Its really a beautiful character which I have never played on television before.

Dharma’s role was challenging for me because in historical show who have to be perfect while portraying a particular character. You cannot experiment with the character in terms of looks, in dialogues and not even in your emotions. I am not saying that I am perfectly portraying the character of Dharma because I am still try to understand Dharma and is trying to get into the skin of the character. I am trying to build good chemistry with Ashoka played by Siddharth Nigam.

You are playing a mother’s character in this show. So what are the difficulties you haved faced while portraying this character and who has been your inspiration for the role?

Well, I think there is a mother in every girl irrespective of the fact that she is married or not married, but she still possesses mother like quality in her so that has helped me. Earlier as well I have done advertisements where I have played the character of a mother, but this is something different when there is a comparison with advertisements and this show because this is completely a different show and different character.

The most important thing in this show is that to have a good bond between a mother and a son. So here Siddharth who is my son in the show is doing an amazing work and we are developing a good bond. He is a thorough gentleman and very good actor. He is good to be around as he brings a smile on every one’s faces.

I personally feel that he is kind of son which all mothers dream off as he possesses all the qualities which a perfect son should have. He is a good actor, gymnastic and on top of that he is the best human being.

Before doing this show, have you researched about Dharma?

Yes, I was aware about who Dharma was before as I have seen Dharma’s character in the Bollywood film Ashoka starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor. But after signing this show, I got to know the importance of this character which was not shown in the film.

Not only in the film but even in the history, I believe that Dharma has been missed out in the books and so. But this show will beautifully project that who Dharma was. From the first episode itself, they will show the journey of Subhadrangini.
