Three boys are racing on the beach, then they want to play another game. The 5 (3 boys and 2 girls) start playing Truth or Dare with a bottle. Two of the boys get into a fight and they find another bottle. The bottle has a paper inside it. They take the paper out and read it, getting shocked.
Abhijeet reads the letter: “Mere bhai ne mujhe goli maar di hai aur main maar raha hoon. Usse iski saza milni chahiye, usne mere bharosa thoda hai. Main usse milne itni door aapne sher Ja-“. (Forget the letter…that flying hair and Abhijeet sir…)Rajat shows pieces of the bottle to Abhijeet. One boy says that the bottle dropped from his hand while reading the letter. Abhijeet is sure a murder, but they don’t know where. Rajat wonders how will they find it based on the letter and the bottle. Purvi wonders why the letter is cut. Rajat says maybe the murderer came back. (The story so far reminds me of an episode from Surya The Super Cop. There the murderer had been roaming around free for 15 years and the cops reached him with just a broken bottle and letter. ) Abhijeet says that the man must have been in the middle of the ocean when he threw it. Abhijeet wonders what “Ja” stands for. Purvi, Freddy, and Rajat give some options: Jabalpur, Jamu, Japan, Jaipur, and so on.
Dr. Salunkhe and Tarika are examining the letter and bottle. (Cheezy bg music. ) ACP, Rajat, and Nikhil come in. ACP and Dr. Salunkhe have some slight nok jhok. ACP asks what he found. Dr. Salunkhe says that he was examining the bottle and shows them something. Dr. Salunkhe says that the bottle was an alcohol bottle and it had been emptied before the letter was put in it. ACP asks if they can find the age of the alcohol. Dr. Salunkhe says that the chemical combinations have changed so they can’t. ACP asks about the letter. Tarika tells them that the man was between 30 and 40 based on the blood. They can’t tell how old the blood is. Tarika also says that the paper is not normal and is handmade from dried flowers and leaves. She also found something embossed on the paper. ACP thinks that the logo is of a shipping company. (Why does every case have a logo? Can’t CID solve a case without a logo? )
In the bureau, Nikhil says that the logo is not in their database. Rajat says that only half the logo is available so they should try painting the rest. ACP tells Nikhil to get a mirror. ACP uses the mirror to see the logo properly. They see that it’s a B and ACP concludes that it was made specially for someone. Sachin says how will they find the victim’s name from that. ACP says we can find out about the flowers and leaves. Rajat says we should ask a botanist. (Thank god it was ACP sir who did this and not someone else. I would be royally pissed at FW if they did that.)
Abhijeet, Rajat, and Purvi are talking to a botanist. He says he can find all the parts of the paper. Abhijeet says we want to find out about the writer and where he lived. The botanist says he can’t find that. Abhijeet says then just tell us where the flowers and leaves are found. The botanist says that’ll take some time and the note could be ruined. Abhijeet reassures him. The botanist is doing his tests and the 3 are watching. The botanist shows them dried leaves in the paper and he shows them his specimen and says it is Devdar tree. Abhijeet says that it must be in the mountains somewhere. Rajat names Himachal Pardesh or Uttarakand. Abhijeet names “Ja” again and asks to use the laptop. They search for “Ja” in these two areas and find only Jantewadi in Himachal Pardesh. (And how many times does CID only find one option. That is so obviously a lie. )
Abhijeet, Vineet, and Sachin are in Jantewadi. (If there’s one thing I like about today’s episode it’s Abhijeet sir. Haye that sweater and scarf. I mean, haye Abhijeet sir. ) The people say nothing happened in their city. Vineet shows them the paper. Abhijeet asks if there is any mill where such papers are made. Abhijeet asks about paper made from Devdar leaves and flowers. A lady says that a few years back there was a ban on cutting Devdar trees, but Mungarilal used to do it at that time.
The 3 now meet Mungarilal. Mungarilal recognizes the paper as part of a writing pad. He made it for Zamindarji’s family. Abhijeet asks about the person whose name asks with B, but Mungarilal doesn’t know. He directs them to the haveli. The 3 leave and Mungarilal calls someone and tells them that CID has come there.(Can we please have some reality FW? Every person is always involved with the criminal. )
Nikhil and Rajat making the bottle. ACP comes in and sees. (Isse kehte hain rai ka pahar bana. ) Rajat shows the logo of a company on the bottle and on the other side is 50. Nikhil says maybe it was a special edition. ACP tells them to find out about the logo. (Sharab ki bottle pe logos nahi hote hain ab.) Rajat says that the company is Brazilian. ACP says we need to find out which company imports this alcohol.
The 3 reach the haveli. A lady comes questioning. Abhijeet says that they are relatives of Kumar Uncle and used to live abroad. The lady doesn’t believe it. Abhijeet says that they haven’t come here for very long. The lady says that Kumar Uncle’s family lives in Mumbai now since 2005. Abhijeet asks what happened. The lady says that Vikram knifed someone due to the land. Abhijeet pretends to remember someone with B and the lady says Balbir also went. The lady leaves and Abhijeet says at least we know that the victim is Balbir. They decide to search the haveli to find some clue to the murder. Sachin finds something. He shows Abhijeet real estate numbers in Mumbai. Sachin says they didn’t rent anything, they probably bought a flat or bungalow. Abhijeet tells Vineet to get sketches of all the family members from the lady. (So far this case is the same as the Surya case. That was directed by FW as well, so they’re recycling. )
Daya, Nikhil, and Sachin find out about the bottles from the manager of one company. Only 3 companies import this company’s alcohol and this limited edition was only imported by their company in 2007. Daya asks if any were sent to a ship. The manager says that it was supplied to 2 cruise ships: Zeido and DL Cruise Line. The consignment didn’t reach Zeido on time, but the consignment went to DL in October 2007. (Again the same thing happened in Surya. Why does it happen that all the cases from FW’s other shows are recycled here? )
A real estate broker is getting angsty. Rajat and Purvi arrive there. The broker tells them that no one ever paid in full cash. The broker reveals that he got black money for 3 houses. His assistant says that he found the file. The broker shows them the file which has passport size photos. The broker says that one house went to Kumar, one to Vikram, and one to Abhimanyu, and Balbir stayed with Kumar because he didn’t have the money. Purvi wonders why they killed Balbir then. Rajat says that once someone settles in Mumbai, they can’t stay elsewhere and go to check.
Daya and Nikhil are meeting with the owner of DL Cruise Lines. The owner says that they sold that ship, but there was no murder on it. Daya asks to meet the employees of the cruise ship and says you must remember their names. He calls two people. (Two employees to serve a whole cruise ship? Who are you faking? I was on a cruise and there were at least 300 employees on it.) Daya asks for the passenger list. He checks. Nikhil asks in a very condescending way “Balbir Kumar ka naam list pe hai.” (Nikhil you make me crack up. The way you asked that? It’s forever imprinted in my mind. ) The owner says yes. Rahul and Suresh come in and say that they were on DL Cruise Line in 2007. Daya says that Balbir was murdered. They don’t know anything about it. Nikhil says one man disappeared. They agree and say that they searched the ship, but didn’t find him and stayed quiet since no one complained. Balbir’s brothers weren’t on the ship, but Daya is sure that they were travelling under another name. (Well if I wanted to murder someone on a ship I wouldn’t go with my real name either. But that can’t happen any longer thanks to law.)
Balbir’s brothers are in the bureau and are wondering how CID knows about Balbir’s death. ACP says it’s because of the letter when he was killed on the DL Cruise Line. The brothers don’t believe that he was dead since 2007. ACP says that Balbir wrote it after all. Rajat says that it is a dying declaration, which law believes. They said that they hadn’t met Balbir since September 2007. They say that they didn’t see eye-to-eye with Balbir so they didn’t really follow up on him. ACP lets them go after telling them not to leave the city. Sachin brings the details of all the passengers and says a girl, Pratusha, is the only fake name on the list. ACP wonders that both brothers were telling the truth. ACP says that both said they hadn’t seen Balbir since September and he died in October. It means Balbir was in Jantewadi and maybe he wasn’t staying at the haveli. ACP says we need to find out which lawyer Balbir met in Jantewadi.
Daya and Vineet are at Sanjeev’s house to meet him. They find out that a man came and took him to meet CID at Mall Road. The servant describes the man. Vineet remembers a man they met the first time they came to Jantewadi with the same description. (Umm…whose this Sanjeev? FW why do you assume we know what’s going on in your brain? )
They question people around the area about the man. A lady calls him Mangu. She says that he is a goon who lives at Mall Road and points them in the direction. Vineet and Daya head that way.
On the other side, Mangu is dragging a begging Sanjeev. Sanjeev is a lawyer. (Oh so Sanjeev is a lawyer!) Sanjeev is begging to be let go. Mangu says that if you live then CID will find out about Balbir. And I’ve been paid to kill you to keep everything a secret. Daya and Vineet arrive there just in time. (Oh did I mention that Daya sir looks dashing in that black coat? ) Mangu is caught. Daya delivers his trademark slap. Mangu falls to the ground crying. (He sounded like he was laughing, but after getting slapped you don’t really laugh.) Mangu says he was paid to tell a lady if anyone asked about Balbir. Sanjeev says that Balbir wanted to get the haveli, but Balbir never told him about the lady. Daya and Vineet wonder why he went to Mumbai all of a sudden. Sanjeev remembers that the day before Balbir left he came and said that a call came from his brother’s house saying that he would get the haveli. Vineet says that Pratusha on the ship was opposite Balbir’s room and maybe she’s behind all this. He wonders how they will find her.
At Balbir’s brothers’ house, DL Cruise Line’s manager arrives. He tells all 4 that Pratusha won a free gift coupon on their cruise line to Europe. They say that there is Pratusha in this house. The manager starts blaming them for lying and fraud. He says that they have photos of Pratusha with the captain of the ship and will use that as proof. (Awesome plan CID! This is the one good part of the complete episode.)
Maya reveals herself as Pratusha in this mess. Vikram is shocked. Daya, Nikhil, and Purvi make their entry and Daya says that’s because she’s Pratusha. Maya says she killed Balbir for her family. She says that by selling the haveli they could get all their loans paid off, but Vikram was ready to give everything to Balbir. She reveals her plan. She shot Balbir and blamed his brothers for it. Balbir broke down hearing that and wrote the letter. Daya asks why they didn’t put the haveli on their name then. Maya blames Vikram saying that he was waiting for Balbir to return. Daya delivers the ending dialogue.
