Choti Bahu Season 2 – 31st August 2011 Written update

Dev with respect in his voice asks for forgiveness and says that he cannot accept dada’s decision (Dada is not too happy with this new Dev, Radhika with a sheen of tears in her eyes looks at Dev and Padma is staring at him. Badi bahu and Virat are smirking and looking at each other and dai is looking at Dev as if he is some insect that has crawled out from somewhere). Dev continues that he does not know why dada took this decision but he is aware of Rajpurohit tradition and responsibilities as much as dada is but for that he cannot leave his wife (dada is exasperated and Radhika is standing with her head bowed down). Dev continues that leaving the one to whom he has got married following all the customs and rituals of marriage will also not be a right action (adharam) for him (Dadaji has a frustrated look on his face and Padma is looking in amazement). Dada open his mouth and says that then does this mean that Dev is just a husband (Dev with a serious expression looks down and Radhika gives a guilty look towards dada) and not a son, a grandson and a future Rajpurohit. Dev looks up and with a determined look answers that he wants one opportunity from dada to fulfill the duties of a grandson, a son, a husband and a Rajpurohit at the same time. Dada just has to trust him (dada meanwhile closes his eyes in exasperation). Barkha pipes up that she supports Dev (dada, Padma and Dev look at barkha and badi bahu wakes up and looks with interest at Barkha). She continues that why is he doing this. Does he think that he is only a Rajpurohit. He is again repeating the mistake that he did with Dev’s father. Radhika with a stern voice says Barkha and tells her not to talk like this with dada. Barkha walks upto dada and says that he is not dada he is just a Rajpurohit now. Barkha continues that for once think like a dada and then he will see his grandson’s pain (dada heaves a big sigh and raises his eyebrows in irritation). She further continues that she wants to plead to that dada who gave her so much love and attention and wants to ask him that what type of justice is this that he wants to snatch happiness from Radhika’s life . Radhika with a stern tone tells Barkha not to take decision regarding her life on her behalf. She has already decided what she has to do and she agrees with dada. Dev looks up and with a piercing look tells Radhika that how can she take decision unilaterally regarding her life, he is her husband and now their lives have now been joined together forever.

Part 2

Dev goes and sits beside dada and tells him calmly that when he was a kid and he did anything wrong, dada always used to punish him so that he does not repeat his mistake. Then softly he asks dada that can he know now what is his mistake?. Then he picks up dada’s hand and hold it within his palm on his lap and tells him using a soft tone that dada has taken all decisions on everyones behalf. He has taken decision as a Rajpurohit and also on the behalf of the family members. With a soft look he asks dada that has he ever thought about Radhika (Dada is looking at him and Padma with tears on his eyes looks at Rdahika). That has he for once thought what will happen to Radhika (dada keeps on looking at Dev) and that Radhika is sacrificing everything out of respect for dada’s decision (dada is getting angry). She is not even letting Barkha to talk. Dev continues that have you ever thought that whether this society will let her live. Dada keeps quiet and Dev with a painful expression tells dada that dada did not think (Badi bahu and Virat are grinning and looking at each other while others are bowing their heads). Dada replies that he has realized that Dev and Radhika did not betray his trust knowingly, but what has happened has happened and there is only one way this situation can be tackled and that is Radhika has to leave this house. Dev now gets angry but keeps quiet for some time and then calmly gets up and tells dada that maybe for dada it is a small matter but for him it is not (dada looks at him in disbelief). Then with determination tells dada that he has also taken the decision that he is never going to leave his wife and if she leaves the house then so will he (dada is glaring).
Part 3

Padma and Mohini both now stand up and Padma asks Dev that what is he saying (oh zip it Padma’will you say this to Rohan’sorry I had to write). Dev does not pay attention to Padma and kneels down in front of dada and says that he remembers clearly that when he was a kid dada had told him that after birth all relationships in life are formed automatically but there is only one relationship that one has to form on his or her own and that is the relationship between a husband and wife (dada contemplating Dev and thinking to himself that why did he teach Dev this, ok the last part is my addition). This relationship is formed in the presence of 5 elements. He then folds his hands and tells dada that it is not possible for him to do that and continues that dada should fulfill his dharm and he will will fulfill his (dada is angry and dai has got that insect look back on her face). Dev continues that if he gives up Rajpurohiti then society will not question him but if he leaves his wife then God will also not forgive him (dada is furious and Radhika with a soft helpless look is looking at dada). Folding his hands at dada he gets up and walks away, Padma stretches her hands to stop him and Radhika says please listen. Dev glances back and with a knowing look and stops. Radhika looks at him with an apologizing look and then slowly walks up to Dev (badi bahu and Virat are back smirking at each other) and says that she has always respected Dev because he has always respected elders and has respect for family and traditions (dada looking with awe at Radhika while Dev is just silent with a blank expression on his face) but if he does not listen to dada today then she is afraid that he might loose this respect (Radhika looks down unable to look at Dev who is now looking at her with piercing and angry eyes). She continues that both of them know their personal dharmas but the most important dharma (duty) for them is to accept dada’s decision (Dev is continuing to stare at her) and for her dada’s decision is the final decision and for that she is leaving this house and going away and if he comes with her then that will be against her dharma. With tears in her eyes looks at Dev. In the background song is going on

Then Radhika folds her hands and asks for his permission and bends down to touch Dev’s feet (Dev is standing there with an angry look, dada heaves a sigh of relief and Padma is gobsmacked). Radhika turns and walks away and walks towards the steps. Dev in anger follows her and Padma runs after him in fear and tells him to stop and that he cannot leave like this because he has to take care of everything. Dev gives her an exasperated look and tells her that what should he take car off? He never wanted to be a Rajpurohit, nor did he ever want that dada health will become bad. He only wanted to get the permission to spend his life with his love and to simultaneously fulfill his duties.
Dev says that he understands the importance of the traditions of a Rajpurohit but if the same traditions comes in between him and Radhika then he should not become a Rajpurohit (Padma is staring at him) because without Radhika he is incomplete and man who is not complete cannot ever become a Rajpurohit. He turn and walks up the stairs and Padma calls out his name and has an insecure look on her face. Radhika enters their bedroom and picks up the sindoor container kept in front of kanha’s idol and starts to walk out of the room. Dev enters the room and they both look at each other and Radhika looks down. Dev with determination slowly starts walking towards her and Radhika with a scared look walks backwards and Dev one by one repeats all the vows of marriage as he is walking up to her (their marriage scenes in flashback). Radhika with a painful look turns her back but Dev stands in front of her and repeats the vows. Radhika keeps on avoiding him but Dev keeps on chanting the vows and keeps on coming in front of her. Radhika with tears in her eyes pleads with him that why is he making it difficult for him to go and Dev replies that he is just repeating his marriage vows to remind her that he will never leave her and will come with her. Radhika asks her then will he forget his duties. Dev with a stern expression tells her that taking decision is so easy for her’dada asked her not to marry Dev and she said yes (Radhika closes her eyes in pain), Barkha told her to get married to Dev and she says yes and then raising his voice in anger tells her that now dada is saying that she cannot remain married to Dev and she has also accepted that but what is her decision? Radhika gulps her tears and says that I have already taken my decision. Dev with a stern tone says that ok if this is your final decision (looks at the sindoor container in her hand) then why is she taking the sindoor container with her. Radhika clutches the sindoor container in her hand and holds it more tightly and closes her fingers on the container and holds it securely against her chest and looks at Dev with a pleading look. Dev looks at her knowingly and then angrily tells her that since she are leaving him, this house and everything, then she should also give this sindoor container to Barkha (Radhika with a painful look closes her eyes). Radhika gulps her tears and gives the sindoor container to Dev and tells him that she is leaving this for Barkha and she will leave taking what is hers. She walks out of the room and Dev follows her leaving the sindoor behind.

Barkha in the lounge is kneeling at dada’s feet and pleading that he should change his decision and tells him that she is not as great as Radhika nor does he have Radhika’s strength. She cannot do all this in the name of dharma. Dai pipes up that Rajpurohit is not well and that Padma should take him to his room. Mansaram walks in saying that he is here to take Radhika home with him. Barkha had told him that after her Muhdikhayee Radhika will return but he could not wait. Everyone is stunned and looking at him in amazement and then Mansaram’s eyes fall on unmarried Barkha and he realizes that something is wrong. He asks everyone that is everything ok and Radhika walks in with Dev following in full speed asking her to stop and Mansaram turns to look at Radhika wearing mangalsutra and mang full of sindoor. Radhika comes to a halt and the camera freezes on her face.
