Channel V’s Jhalli Anjali and Yeh Jawani to take forward the bi-weekly trend…
It was an exclusive news about Channel V launching two new shows – Jhalli Anjali Ke Tootey Dil Ki Amazing Story and Yeh Jawani Ta Ra Ri Ri. Jhalli Anjali will be produced by Rose Audio Visual Films and lyricist Niranjan Iyengar. Yeh Jawani will be produced by Vaibhav Modi under the banner Bolt Media Pvt. Ltd.
Jhalli Anjali will give the viewers a unique outlook towards heartbreak.
A source says, “Up until now, most love stories are where boy meets girl and they fall in love. Jhalli Anjali will tell the story from the point of view of what happens after heartbreak and before you find love. Anjali is a girl who starts off as someone whose world revolves around the guy she loves and when he breaks her heart is when she begins an amazing journey to self discovery.”
Yeh Jawaani Ta Ra Ri Ri is the story of coming-of-age of three brothers and their relationships as they face new realities of life.
The source adds, “The protagonist is Cheeku, the middle son of the Khosla family who is is trapped between his self-absorbed older brother Sid and his impudent younger brother Dodo. Yeh Jawaani is a journey to see if Cheeku can overcome his insecurities and find his own voice and love.”
In a way, both the shows will be very different from each other and yet will be held together by the fact that both the shows will be about youngsters who would be on the verge of discovering their real personalities.
It’s already out in the media about Chandani Bhagwanani essaying the lead role on Anjali in Jhalli Anjali.
The role of Cheeku in Yeh Jawani will be played by Chirag Deepak Mahbubani, while Sid will be played by Mohit Tolani. Dodo will be essayed by actor Anshuman Malhotra.
The source further adds on, “Jhalli Anjali will launch on 12 May (Monday and Tuesday) at the 6 PM slot while Yeh Jawani will launch on 16 May (Friday and Saturday) at the 6 PM slot. Paanch will continue to air on Wednesday and Thursday at 6 PM slot. As for few strategic changes of existing shows, Heroes – The Fightback Files will now be aired as a bi-weekly, every Monday and Tuesday at the 5.30 PM slot. Confessions of an Indian Teenager will now take the 5.30 PM slot on Wednesday and Thursday while It’s Complicated will air at 5.30 PM on Friday and Saturday.”
When contacted, Lavanya Anand, Content Head, Channel V confirmed the launch date of both the shows and talked about the strategic move of bi-weeklies saying, “We have taken a conscious move to step away from doing only dailies and explore bi weeklies because of two reasons. Firstly, there are a lot of stories that are finite and interesting, but were not being told because they aren’t long enough to sustain a daily format. The second reason is that we could keep experimenting and giving our audiences something new every couple of months without worrying about audience fatigue. This move has been really successful for us and Jhalli Anjali and Yeh Jawaani are following the same pattern.”
When asked about the probability of a new season of The Buddy Project coming, Lavanya said, “The Buddy Project didn’t get a sudden ending at all. It was always planned to end at this time. The story had come to its logical end and it made sense to give it a befitting ending instead of dragging on and on. We are also looking at the possibility of bringing back The Buddy Project for its third season, maybe even in a new avatar.”
We look forward to the two new offerings on Channel V!!
