Change Aayega, Hum Laayenge takes up the topic of moral policing
Bindass’ latest show, Change Aayega, Hum Laayenge, addresses various issues that directly or indirectly affect the youth and one such emerging issue is Moral Policing. With the changing dynamics of Indian culture, the youth’s outlook is also changing. Doing things morally right or wrong is a person’s perspective and today the youth believes that a person is morally right if he/she does things out of conviction. In the name of “protecting culture” violent steps are taken by some weak-kneed groups. Through clever satire and real time experiment, the show will bring to fore the reaction of the youth to this matter.
The satire is about Suraj, a young lad who feels responsible for the nation and is always working for the betterment of the society. To carry on with his work, Suraj decides to join moral police brigade headed by Vijay Lante. Initially Suraj is delighted on being associated with the moral police brigade, as he feels really happy that he is contributing his share for the betterment of the society but, as time passes by Suraj realizes how wrong he was and that it is really unfair on the part of Vijay Lante and his men to impose their thoughts and beliefs on someone else.
In the concluding part of the episode, the show conducts a social experiment at a well known restaurant, where the moral police brigade are seen harassing a young and innocent couple on their date. The crux of the experiment is to see if the unsuspecting guests at the restaurant stand up and defend the innocent couple or stay ignorant.
To find out the reaction of the youth present, tune-in to Change Aayega, Hum Laayenge this Friday, 2 May 2014 at 6.30pm.
