Behenein turns ONE!
We caught up with the cast and crew of the show to ask them about their memorable moments on the show.
Producer JD Majetia said that the show has been consistent and has given competition to shows on other channels that are aired at the same time. “We have also lived up to STAR Plus’ new thinking i.e. Rishta Wohi Soch Nahi. I’m glad that we’ve worked and lived up to the standards of STAR Plus,” he added.
Mateja added that the scene that he remembers the most was more of a track in the show. “The drama actually started with Smriti’s Godh Bharai. That sequence got us a lot of positive feedback. That was followed by Shamaldas’ revenge and how he forcefully married Aakashi.”
The producer confirmed that there would be a huge celebration, but that would be a combined celebration when the show completes 300 episodes. “I would like to thank the audience for their support and hope that they continue tuning into Behenin at its new time slot starting Monday, Feb 14th at 6 pm slot” he added.
The cast of the show is also delighted at the one-year run. “It’s been a wonderful journey,” said Sudeep Sahir, who plays Mihir. “I would like to thank Hats Off and STAR Plus for giving me a chance to be part of this show. My life has changed for the better in the last one year. The show has been wonderful and the scenes have been memorable. I remember one scene in particular where Smriti is in labour and is admitted to hospital. I’m supposed to show the emotions of a concerned husband and an excited to-be father. It was challenging,” he adds.
Sudeep also lauds his co-stars and says that they’ve been wonderful support. “We complement each other perfectly. It’s nice to work with such talented actors and actresses ,” he says, also expressing gratitude for the fans of the show for watching it regularly and faithfully.
The show also brought the actors closer together. After all, working day after day on a soap results in closeness on the sets and your colleagues are as close as family and friends. An elated Smriti, played by Shiju Kataria, said that the journey has made the four sisters become part of the STAR Parivaar. “The show has given me three real life sisters as well. I love that my character has so many different shades to her. I’ve been innocent, mentally disturbed, as well as someone looking to create her own identity. I don’t think that I would have been given such a role in cinema,” she adds.
She speaks fondly of the Godh Bharai scene. “I had to emote so much in that scene that I was exhausted at the end. I’ve had so many shades to my character, which has been lucky for me. I’ve had to do something different and all in the same show. It’s been a wonderful journey. I’d like to thank the audience for their support,” she adds.
We spoke to Anokhi, played by Ojasvi Oberoi and she said, “I’m glad that the show has completed a year. It’s been tough competition from other shows, but we’ve held our own. I’m glad that Anokhi is a popular character. I’ve had fun on the show, but I can’t really pinpoint on a favourite scene. The sequence when we realise our parents are dead was intense. More for me because I missed my real parents who live in Delhi, so I started crying on the sets,” she laughs.
Adda Khan, who plays Aakashi, says, “It’s been a wonderful journey. I’ve learnt a lot from veterans like Ketakiji and Shruti Ulfat, as well as Sudeep and Manoj. I would also like to thank STAR Plus and Hats Off for their faith in me. I’ve had so many shades to my character that it’s been crazy, but fun. I’ve done comedy, romance and negative scenes. I remember this once scene when Aakashi is kidnapped by Shamar. I was really crying because I thought that I had been really kidnapped (laughs).”
The actors are also awaiting the next major landmark, which is 500 episodes. Manoj Mishra (Shamaldas) said, “I can’t wait for our show to complete 500 episodes. I had so many shades to Shamaldas’ character. From this crazy man to a mellowed down man, who is in love with his wife, Shamaldas has seen an interesting journey.”.
In the upcoming episodes, Purva suspects that Shamaldas is involved in smuggling and expresses concern to Aakashi. “Shamar challenges Purva and tells her that she won’t be able to confess Shamar’s smuggling activities to me,” says Aakashi. “You just have to see what happens,” she adds.
So to know whether Purva will confront Aakashi, tune into the Behenein at the new timings for the show is every weekday at 6 pm only on STAR Plus.
