June 13, 09:03Ekta Kapoor’s Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi on Colors based on Emily Bronte’s novel Wuthering Heights?
Ekta Kapoor is all set to launch her fresh love tale on Colors, titled Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi. As we know, the male lead on the show, essayed by Shakti Arora will be a not-so-well-to-do guy, who would basically be a driver’s son. And the lead girl essayed by newbie Radhika Madan will be the rich girl, living a luxurious life.
Well, so far so good!! But we have got to hear that the story progression will later see the male lead going missing from the scene for a while, after which he will reappear as a rich man with all the luxuries in life.
Well, does this story ring a bell?
A reliable source tells us that Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi will have a storyline similar to that of the very popular Emily Bronte novel, Wuthering Heights wherein the man Heathcliff who would live the life of a servant to begin with, will vanish soon after the girl he would love would decide to marry another guy. Later, Heathcliff will return as the rich and much-educated guy who would want to ruin the family of the girl.
Now, moving to Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi, our source states that the transformation of the male lead from being poor to rich is surely on the cards. Even when the audition for the male lead was on, the team was looking for an actor who would fit the bill, playing both the poor and rich characters. Actors like Kinshuk Mahajan, Mohit Sehgal were also short-listed for the role. But they were not selected as the actors though could look good in the rich man’s role, did not fit the bill to play the driver’s son.
Now, what remains to be seen is whether Ekta would follow the exact tale of Wuthering Heights, or deviate from the plot to add her own creative masala bit. And if at all she sticks to the plot, then it will only mean that Shakti Arora will have to portray a negative character later on, when he gets back to avenge the girl he loved.
Well, only time will tell whether we are going to witness yet another obsessive lover’s tale!!
For information, a movie with this concept has also come in the past. One might remember the successful film Dhadkan starring Akshay Kumar, Shilpa Shetty and Suniel Shetty wherein Suniel got back as the rich man to ruin Shilpa’s happiness.
Well, as of now, we look forward to the launch of the show.
We texted Ekta Kapoor for a confirmation but she did not revert till the time of filing the article.
