As Shaitaan comes to an end, host Sharad Kelkar gets busy with films!
Sharad Kelkar who is busy shooting for films at the moment hopes to get back to Television soon!
Shaitaan – A criminal Mind, the weekend programme on Colors has taken a break with the last episode being telecast on 7th July. The popular host of the show, Sharad Kelkar though has no free time as he soon got busy with his film shoots.
At present, Sharad is in Hyderabad shooting for Ritesh Deshmukh’s Marathi film Lai Bhari. Produced by Ritesh, the film is an entertaining comic caper which also has Ritesh acting in it. Talking about the film Sharad says, “As the name suggests the film is total entertainment. It has been fun shooting for the film which will keep me busy for the next 1 – 1 months and maybe later too.” This was also the reason that Sharad could not take up any other offer on Television he says, “I had an offer to do Television but they wanted to shoot with me now but since my dates are already blocked I had to say ‘No’ to them.”
After this film, Sharad is also due to shoot for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Ram Leela where he plays a pivotal role of Deepika Padukone’s brother. So his next move may again be hosting shows instead of fiction is what Sharad feels. “Since my dates have been blocked for films, I cannot give committed dates to shoot for a daily fiction show so I may have to opt for hosting shows instead, but of course I will come back on Television.”
He may also be back as a host of Shaitaan which may come back in November – December after a break, “I believe this is a seasonal break for Shaitaan. It was always supposed to be a 52 episode show and after this break it may come back as a new season. We were so much into making a good quality programme that it was becoming tedious and stressful to continue and we never wanted to compromise on that. We all needed a break and when we come back it will be a great start again.”
Ask him what difference does he feel between doing Films and TV? “TV is a regular process which is shot every day. Also there is so much of competition these days on TV that one has to maintain quality.
However even films are not easy. They have confirmed budgets and calculated market risks so one cannot relax while doing films too. However, films are much faster than earlier times. As an actor however, the medium does not matter for me. I will give my 100 % to whichever medium I work in!”
Currently, Sharad who is shooting in Hyderabad is relaxing and concentrating on his film and a welcome respite for him was when he bumped into Salman Khan who too is shooting for his film Mental in the pearl city, Hyderabad. Sharad laughs as he recalls the moment yesterday when he saw Salman in the gym, “We are staying in the same hotel and yesterday when I went to the gym for my work-out even Salman was there with his trainer. I was totally bowled over by his dedication when he was working out. He was totally focused and one could make out that he is a guy who will be totally committed to whatever he is doing. I have once hosted a live show where Salman too was performing but we have never interacted. Even yesterday I was totally speechless and couldn’t speak to him.”
