“Anchoring is more difficult than acting”- Ragini Khanna
Talented actress and host Ragini Khanna who was last seen as the host of India’s Best Dramebaaz on Zee TV is all set to host a comedy reality show Gangs of Hasseepur on Zee TV again. As the actress is shifting her base from acting to hosting she feels that anchoring is more difficult than acting as she loves acting more. Well, as said earlier that Ragini loves acting she has won accolades for her performance in Star Plus’ Sasural Genda Phool.
So we got in touch with Ragini who tells us about her hosting experience, how she utilized her time when she was on a sabbatical post her show ended and much more in a candid chat with us.
As acting in Ragini’s passion, she finds anchoring bit hectic as it is very spontaneous and the pace has to be maintained, “Anchoring is more difficult than acting because I love acting and I can go into the skin of the character and I enjoy the process of learning. I love learning about my character thinking about how they will eat, sleep, drink breath, live and everything but when it comes to hosting we have to be so spontaneous that we just have to be there and if you have to crack it in that moment when you are on air. While hosting everything happens at that spot so if you don’t crack it at that point, the moment is lost. As an anchor has to hold collectively everything together he has to make sure that he streamlines the process, say what the judges are saying, say what the contestant are saying also channelize it and present it to the audience (laughs). So it’s too hectic,” she says.
The actress takes fun in a sporting way as she likes to make fun of herself rather than hurting someone else’s sentiments as Ragini says, “My sense of humor belongs to a thought that you better make a fun of yourself rather than making fun of someone else because I don’t like bringing people down, I don’t like making fun of someone’s weakness and I personally prefer situational humor which is not targeted at people because emotions get hurt. I don’t like hurting people but I like making fun of myself and I also like to appreciate when people make fun of me because I have a good laugh.”
As there are many comedy shows already on air on Television which are gaining immense popularity, so when we quizzed Ragini that does she think that this show Gangs of Hasseepur will be able to live up to the expectations of the audiences or not, this is what she says, “I am not worried about how this show will compete with already running comedy shows because I feel that every show finds its audience and its space and we are not trying to compete with anybody because the concept is different. This show is a seasonal show for a stipulated period of time. It’s for eight weeks and it’s based on current issues, present satire and I don’t think so that such a show exist on our Television apart from News channel (laughs).”
Lastly on being asked Ragini about how did she utilize her time post her show Sasural Genda Phool ended she says, “I was chilling. I was living my life because for five years I did Television. I did 10 to 12 odd shows with 200 award functions with two films, so in five years that load of work, I didn’t have a life. I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t meet my family so I was really tired and really exhausted and I with the fear of getting burnt up I pulled myself back because I felt that in the process of making living I have lost out on a life.”
We wishes Ragini all the best for her show Gangs of Hassepur.
