Death on the set of TV show Ashoka

A tragic incident recently hit the set of Colors’ popular historical drama, Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat (Contiloe).

As reported by a daily, a light man named Gautam Sangpriya, passed on the set of the show on Thursday (16 April) while working. Gautam was working to fix the lights when he got an electric shock resulting in his demise.

When we contacted actor Sachin Verma to get the details he said, “The unfortunate incident left all of us in shock. Immediately after the accident he was rushed to the nearby Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Karjat but was declared death on arrival. The shooting was halt for the day and everyone from the set went to the hospital. My sympathies are with his family.”

But the incident has once again created rift between the production houses and workers union. Gangeshwar Shrivastava, General Secretary- Allied Mazdoor Union was quoted saying that they might ask the workers stop working if major safety measures are not provided for them.

We hope that Gautam’s family finds strength.

RIP Gautam.
