With the new Adhyay (phase) beginning, what is so new about the Adhyay?
The show has taken a leap of eleven years. It is the journey of Anandi of changing the society the evil customs that is going on since ages now. Also, it is journey of Anandi who is in search of her daughter who was taken away when she was mere three months old.
The child marriage that Anandi faced had completely changed her life and she does not want her daughter too, to go through the same. One day, the kidnapper (Akhiraj Singh) tells Anandi her to forget about her daughter because she is now married to his son. Anandi’s daughter being a victim of child marriage triggered her to eradicate this entire custom of child marriage. Since Anandi’s daughter has fallen prey of child marriage, she takes a firm step to get rid of this evil custom so that no one else goes through this. So, here is where Anandi’s journey begins in the New Adhyay.
Do you think the show is back to square one with first Anandi and now her daughter facing this issue?
Yes, history is repeating. Child marriage is the major center of attraction considering the story line. But maybe the way they deal with it will be different. The issue of Balika Vadhu will be same but it will have a different approach to it. On one side, Anandi is busy running Shiv Niketan and teaching students about self-defense and on the other hand, she is in search of her daughter.
Shekhar and Singh family has seen an exit from the show. According to you, how well will the audience accept this?
Personally, I am really very excited for this. Every show comes to that phase where they need some changes. From story’ point of view, this change in the show was necessary. They need to move ahead and that is the reason they have brought in the eleven years leap. The essence, flavor and the root which was lost somewhere, audience will get that coming back. I think this change is for the good.
How have you bonded with your son in the show?
I have hardly shot scenes with him. He is very cheerful and a very nice boy. Character wise, he is very close to Dadisa (Surekha Sikri). The love that I wanted to give to Nandini (Gracy Goswami) is all going to Shivam.
Balika Vadhu has successfully surpassed the record of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. What do you have to say about it?
It has been only two years I have joined the show. But these two years have been wonderful. It is absolutely amazing experience working with such senior actors. Hats off to the makers, all the actors and the entire team of Balika Vadhu because ultimately it is their hard work that they have put in. I feel proud of this because same actors, same technicians and the same people are working on the show which is a very good thing.
We wish more success to Toral Rasputra!
