The plane hijack track was very difficult to execute: Sumeet Mittal

Producer Sumeet Mittal talks about his show Ek Rishta Aisa Bhi and about the major Plane hijack sequence in Diya Aur Baati Hum.

Producer Sumeet Mittal whose show Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus has maintained a top position on the chart along with its unique concept and gripping sequences, also has one more Ek Rishta Aisa Bhi on a newly launched channel Sony Pal.

His new show Ek Rishta Aisa Bhi starring Rahul Sharma and Preeti Chaudhary is being compared to Rajshri Productions’ popular movie Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi that was written by himself. We quizzed Sumeet about his show Ek Rishta Aisa Bhi and the major plane hijack sequence of Diya Aur Baati Hum.

How did the idea of Ek Rishta Aisa Bhi originate?

We wanted to project the relationship between Jija and Saali. This was our basic thought behind making this show and people are liking it very much.

Now the marriage of Raghav and Sonia has taken place, so how will the story shape up further?

The period which Raghav and Sonia are going through in their life, is very good and the story is also coming out very nicely because after marriage, even the audience wants to see their relationship flourishing.

We heard that Preeti Chaudhary’s character is going to end in the show. Please comment.

It’s not that it’s going to end but the viewers will witness a dramatic change in the storyline of the show. It’s there in the air since long as it’s a part of the storyline. We will stick to the storyline of the show. Let’s see how the audiences will react to it.

The show is being compared to the movie Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi…

It may be because we Shashi and I wrote the film Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi but actually the show starts where the film ends. The film ends after they get married but here we wanted to show life post their marriage. The show is all about that. Here the premise is completely different because they were already in love in the film and the siblings were young kids so they decided to wait. The story was all about ‘Wait’ while this is not. This is a story of a boy turning into a father figure, brother figure and a friend figure. I believe this story is completely different from that.

How has the response been so far?

The response has been very good. It’s doing well in channel’s ratings. I am getting calls from so many people as well. The purpose is fulfilled that we tried to make some different shows and people are liking the concept.

Coming to your show Diya Aur Baati Hum, The plane hijack track has become very popular and has been gaining very good TRPs. How are you feeling about it?

Of course it’s a good feeling because this track was very complicated and difficult to execute. It was much difficult than the IPS track that we did earlier. This show is very action driven and showcases balancing of the emotions of the family. So it’s a very difficult track to execute and our directors, writers and the actors are doing a fabulous job. So, after this if you get numbers and people are appreciating it then it’s very fulfilling.

What next can we expect in Diya Aur Baati Hum post Rajkumar’s (Gaurav Sharma) track?

We are also thinking about the same as what should we deliver now post RK’s track because it’s at a peak of an IPS officer’s career and it’s difficult for us to change something. Right now we are struggling.

The track has been proved out to be the major sequence of the show…

Yea of course it’s a major part because it’s going to take the show to another level. I don’t think that in near future, we have seen something big like this on television. It’s a path breaking and people are appreciating it.

Tell us something about your upcoming shows…

Things are progressing well. I think by next month you will get to see some concrete things happening. We are just shooting right now and I want to deliver quality product again. We have to live up to the expectations. We can concentrate more on the quality of the product. We are just shooting and the telecast of the show is up to the decision of the channel.
