“Today it has become a money making business rather than a celebration.” – Sarita Joshi
Veteran actress Sarita Joshi talks about the celebrations for Janmashtami with us.
Hathi Ghoda Palkhi, Jai Kanhiya Laal Ki is what people are murmuring today. As people are celebrating the auspicious festival of Janmashtami, the celebrations seem to be in full swing. While people will be enthusiastically engrossed watching Dahi Handi today, actors are also celebrating the festival in a grand way.
One such actor is Sarita Joshi who outstandingly essays the character of Baa in Colors’ Meri Aashiqui Tumse Hi celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna by reading the auspicious Bhagwad Gita as it gives her mental peace.
Talking about the celebrations Saritaji says, “Earlier we used to celebrate in a grand way when we used to stay at Napeansea Road. There used to be bhajans sung at Laxmi Narayan temple and also I used to keep a fast for the entire day but nowadays I don’t get time to fast.”
“Today it has become a money making business rather than a celebration. There is no security as the Dahi Handi is placed at a height and people tend to hurt themselves,” says the revered actress who doesn’t agree with the celebrations happening across the country these days.
We truly respect your sentiments Saritaji!
