Dharmesh Mehta’s show Chandrakant Chiplunkar Sidhi Bambwala to replace Lapataganj on SAB TV
Lapataganj gained tremendous fan following with its satirical comedy in season 1 and with public demand there was a roll out of season 2 also. But sadly, the show is now scheduled to go off-air on 15 August.
Now comes in the news that the show will be replaced by Dharmesh Mehta’s Chandrakant Chiplunkar Sidhi Bambwala (Namanraj Productions) in the 10 pm slot.
A highly placed credible source confirms that Prashant Damle will essay the role of the protagonist Chandrakant Chiplunkar while Kavita Lad will be paired opposite him in the lead role. Veteran actor Anang Desai will also be seen playing a pivotal role.
While Prashant has made some incredible contributions in Marathi theatre, film and television shows such as Pasand Aahe Mulagi, Savat Maajhi Ladki, Atma Vishwas and Ina Meena Deekla, Kavita has exhibited her talent and versatility doing stage and television shows such as Char Divas Sasuche and Mejwani.
Informs our source that the show will revolve around the premise of a society and focus on the incidents Chandrakant Chiplunkar, a Maharashtrian employee at a fire brigade station, would face in his day to day life. The show will highlight how a fire brigade officer not only would extinguish fire, but also play a pivotal role in rescuing people from dangerous situations.
As per what we hear, the promos of the show are set to go on-air-from tonight and the show is slated to go on air from 18 August.
Producer Dharmesh Mehta confirmed the above developments and said, “This is a story which has never been seen on television before. We have a great team where apart from known three extremely popular faces, the rest are fresh faces all from the Gujarati and Marathi theatre groups. I am extremely excited for the project. Infact, more than me and the entire team of Namanraj Productions, the people at Mumbai Fire Brigade are elated. They have lent their support as we have used real locations to shoot prime scenes in episodes. We have our own van which is well equipped with all the facilities a fire brigade van would have.”
The show definitely deserves a dekko!!!
