Veera 2nd June 2014 Written Episode
Baldev instigates the men against the women working-Episode starts with the man Baldev was speaking to earlier preparing tea for them. Baldev complements him on knowing how to make tea. When the man takes the tea for them to drink, Baldev secretly turns the gas back on, without the man knowing. While they are drinking tea, Baldev complements the man again for making such good tea, and then he suddenly starts to get the smell of gas. Baldev uses this as an opportunity to make the man realize that its better for his wife to stay home, to make sure that everything is run properly at home. Otherwise, if she goes out and works, if it hadn’t been for Baldev today noticing that the gas was left on, they would all have been hurt.
Scene shifts to Ratan asking Veera to pay the women their salaries. Veera notices a young boy playing, and asks Ratan about him. That’s when they notice the boy climb a ladder to get his kite that is stuck on the side of a window. Veera and Ratan run to stop him. Ranvi notices Veera and Ratan running, and is confused. That’s when he notices the young boy on the ladder trying to get his kite. Ranvi runs to save the boy. The boy falls from the top, but Ranvi catches him in time. By now, Gunjan, the boy’s mother, and the rest of the women have also arrived. Ratan scolds the boy’s mother for not watching over her son.
RanJan-Gunjan is preparing dinner. She takes a chair to climb and get something from the top but she falls, and is caught by Ranvi. Ranvi and Gunjan share an eyelock. The sound of the cooker gets them back to reality. Ranvi tells her to go sleep, but Gunjan refuses, telling him that there’s a lot of work still left for her to do.
Baldev’s plan continues-Baldev is holding a meeting, along with Bansuri, with quite a few villagers, talking about the incidents that took place that day. He tries to convince them that this is why women should not work. The villagers disagree with Baldev. But Baldev continues, reminding them about the incidents, and this is all because the women are busy working with Ratan, instead of taking care of the house. Finally, the villagers in the meeting agree with Baldev, about women staying home. He tells them what to do to stop all this.
Village men against Ratan-While Ratan is working in the sarpanch office, a man just gives her a file, and doesn’t say anything. She wonders why, and asks another man why everyone is behaving differently around her today. Veera comes running, asking Ratan to come with her right away. Ratan sees some of the women there at work, and Ratan asks where everyone else is. That’s when the women tell her how some of the women’s husbands and mother-in-law have stopped them from working. They then hear men protesting against Ratan, and see her picture being burned by the village men in anger. Veera sees Baldev and Bansuri then, and Baldev is looking triumphant.
The men tell Ratan that they can take care of their house, and that the women of their house will not go out and work anymore. Ranvi defends Ratan and all the women who are working. Ratan speaks up, letting the men know that this work started with their approval, but if they don’t agree, then she will stop this work once and for all. Baldev and Bansuri smile, looking victorious. Baldev is happy, telling Bansuri that his dream of becoming sarpanch is becoming more possible, now that Ratan will be kicked out from the sarpanch post.
Veera and Chaiji-Veera questions Chaiji why it’s always the woman who has to sacrifice and take a step back from pursuing their interests and dreams. Chaiji praises Veera for her forward thinking, reminding her that the men’s thinking won’t change. They are still backward in their thoughts. Veera comes up with a plan to prove that women can handle the home and work.
Precap-Veera is asking the men if the responsibility of a wife is only to cook, while the man goes out and works. She asks them if they would like to see their wives go out and work and be equally supported.
