Now that Kanan is happily married, all I can say is God bless him: Ekta Kaul

The enchanting and intriguing damsel Ekta Kaul charmed the audience with her angelic eyes and undoubted appeal. She mesmerized the audience as the bubbly Sahiba in Zee TV‘s Rab Se Sohna Ishq and is currently seen as Suhani in Sony Entertainment Television’s Bade Achhe Lagte Hain.

In a free-wheeling chinwag with us she opens up about things you wouldn’t want to miss reading.

Ekta Kaul paints a word picture of herself saying, “I am reserved and independent. I am an introvert and that is something that I have to work on. But I am extremely patient, fun-loving and I love travelling and music.”

Recounting her journey into acting the pretty lady states, “My journey into acting can be summed up in one word “magical”. I was working with Nestle and that is when I got spotted and bagged the role of Saheba in Rab Se Sohna Ishq. Then when I was working for Rab Se Sohna, I was offered the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. And last but not the least I was approached for the parallel lead Suhani in Ekta Maam’s Bade Achhe Lagte Hain.”

Surviving in an industry for 2 years and still going strong is commendable, has it been a rollercoaster?

“All of the three experiences have been great. Rab Se Sohna Ishq was my debut and was amazing. Jhalak is by far one of the best experiences I’ve had on television. I wouldn’t mind doing it every day too. And of course Bade Achhe was great too”, excerpts Ekta.

Any more magic onscreen anytime soon besides Bade Achhe? Well, here is what the modest actress has to say.

“I was offered quite a few shows but since I’m on a contract with Bade Achhe I turned them down. Once Bade Achhe gets completed, I will look for other projects.”

If it wasn’t for acting, we wonder what the beautiful actress would have been.

“I always wanted to be a commercial pilot, but I couldn’t. And then acting came along. Not many people know about this but I have my own NGO in Jammu called Shraddha Educational Society. It sponsors education of 10 aspiring students. If I wouldn’t have been an actress, I would have been more involved with my NGO work.”
Good work Ekta!

Here is something that makes Ekta Kaul distinct from many TV actors. Take a look.

“I don’t think I am perfect. There is a lot more scope for improvement. I am not happy but I am satisfied with whatever I have achieved as an actress. I need to brush my acting skills a lot more. So once I think I have done that, I will definitely try for Bollywood.”

Talking about her dream role and best on-screen chemistry the poised actress says, “By far, my best on-screen chemistry has been with Ashish Sharma in Rab Se Sohna Ishq. I am looking forward to stepping out of my comfort zone and doing something different. I have only worked in romantic soaps. So I am looking for a variety, something raw, earthy and of course challenging.”

The engagement, roka and break up with her co-actor and ex- fiancée Kanan Malhotra was talked about for days. We tried digging our claws deep into the matter and here is what a soft-spoken Ekta had to say.

“See there is no use talking about it. There were a lot of reasons. My family knows it. Kanan’s family knows it. I don’t think I need to justify or defend myself on any platform. People who matter to me have supported me. I opted out of the situation and escaped. I even changed my number and shifted to not face this chaos. But now it’s all history. We are not in contact anymore. And now that Kanan is happily married, all I can say is God bless him. Let’s not get into it.”

Is that the end of her belief in love and relationships?

“One experience shouldn’t decide the fate of your entire life. I am very optimistic and haven’t given up on love or relationships. But right now my priority is my career. I want to work hard and prove myself”, says a thoughtful Ekta.

Food for thought people? Well here is her mantra for success:

“Work hard, be happy and be focused. Learn, grow and challenge yourself every day.”

And while bidding us farewell she has a message for all her fans, “Thanks a lot guys. Keep watching and loving us. Keep smiling and supporting us. To know more, you’ve got to watch the show. There is a lot more drama, twists and turns.”
