“I’m taking part in Jhalak just to be in it and not for any competition” : VJ Andy
VJ cum host VJ Andy is gearing up to shake his leg in the upcoming reality show Jhalak Dikhhlaa Jaa Season 7. He speaks about the well-known judges, performing for his fans and audience and more…
VJ Andy was last seen hosting Colors’ India’s Got Talent Season 5 and now he is all set to groove on the floor of popular reality show Jhalak Dikhhlaa Jaa Season 7. The VJ cum host talks to us in detail about how is he preparing for the upcoming dance reality show.
When asked Andy about why did he choose to be a part of the show Jhalak… he replies, “It’s a show that I always wanted to do. I was done with dancing at the age of 21 but now you realized of how much it takes to go back to it. Re-learning is very hard and I’m very exhausted but at the same time enjoying it. I’ll be shooting for the episode on 31 May which happens to be my birthday also. I’ll be turning 30 and this show is going to be a gift to myself.”
Talking about his choreographer partner, Andy says, “She is a new girl and to tell you frankly I was skeptical initially to be paired with a new partner. It is there the mind that if you know a person who would have been with me it would be easier for us as he/she may already know the concept of Jhalak. Though later I realized that we both are new and we are trying our best to push the envelope. Today I feel glad that I’m with her.”
Coming to judges Madhuri Dixit Nene is Andy’s favorite judge. “Madhuri is one of the reasons for being in Jhalak. She is the one because of whom I wanted to be part of this industry. Actually she is the reason why I came to Bombay too,” he says.
“I remember when she had come on the sets of India’s Got Talent, I scuttled for the first time. Everybody was like what are you doing Andy and I told them its all because of Madhuri as I couldn’t say a line in front of her. So dancing in front of Madhuri, you can understand. Also I haven’t danced for 10 years and going back to the level that I was in that age is not possible. So let’s see,” says VJ Andy who is looking forward to dance in the show despite being the fact that acclaimed dancer and actor Madhuri would be judging the show as he is anxious to perform in front of the dancing diva.
About the second judge Karan Johar, Andy speaks, “I have interacted with him and thus I can say that he’s a very intelligent person. I know of how is judges when it comes to a performance. He would have a deep insight to the overall presentation. Still I would say that I don’t know him so much but whatever I know, I can use that knowledge.”
Andy has worked with Remo Dsouza and says that he is a perfectionist, “Yes he has choreographed me before and I know how he is when it comes to pointing your toes or hands. So you never know what’s going to be next.”
Also Andy stated that he wanted to come back for the love that the audience gave him during his journey in Bigg Boss Saath 7. “After the show ended, people used to ask me of when I’ll be seen again on screen. There were aunts of my mom’s age and they called me beta when you will do another show. By doing Jhalak I want to give them that love back. The way people connected to me; I want them to re-connect with me again by Jhalak. So Vote For Andy is going to continue,” he laughs.
Coming back to the show, Andy who is going to be your competitor? “There are lot of people participating in the show like Sophie Chowdhary, Kritika Kamra, Ashish Sharma, Karan Tacker and Purab Kohli. Till now I haven’t seen their dance but Sophie is a pop singer and she knows lot of western techniques. Everything apart, I’m taking part in this show just to be in it and not for any competition. For me it’s like whenever I go I take good memories and learn a lot from the show. So I’m gonna make the most of it.”
Andy believes in charity and works for a noble cause. Thus to aid a charitable organization, he will print a T-shirt of his own and will sell them, “Yes I’ll be doing that and now whether you call it a PR activity or anything but I’m planning to donate that money to the charity called Nanhi Kali, which I personally look upon. It’s about the girl child and there is a slum school in Chembur which this charity runs and they are in need for money. So why not!”
It will be surely entertaining to watch VJ Andy shaking his leg on Jhalak…
