Off screen, Shivin and I are good friends, not brother and sister: Digangana Suryavanshi
16 year old Digangana Suryavanshi who plays the grown-up Veera post leap in the hit Star Plus siblings show Ek Veer Ki Ardaas…Veera (Beyond Dreams) does not believe in making brothers just for the heck of it.
“The brother-sister bond is very pure, so I don’t want to take it lightly. Also in today’s times no guy wants to be a girl’s brother, being friends is a different ball game. Even if you tell a guy you regard him as a brother he will smile at you in the face, but he will abuse you from inside. That is why most guys disappear on the sacred festival of Rakhi.”
So what is your equation with Shivin Narang, who plays your Veerji (elder brother) in the show? “Since our characters share a loving relationship there is a sweet bond between us. As we have been shooting for a while now, I end up calling him Veerji even off camera as well. What makes this bond even stronger is that neither does he have a sister nor I have a brother. Having said this, we are still only friends and not siblings. I only believe in relations either through blood connection or family ties.”
In closing Digangana says, “One needs to put a lot of effort to show the brother-sister relationship on screen. For example, when Veerji removes his coat and asks me to wear it, you need to have a different chemistry to the action so that the viewers who don’t regularly follow the show understand that the action is of a brotherly love as opposed to anything else. On the other hand it is very easy to show romance, just play background music and your job is done.”
We hope you and your Veerji do a swell job on screen, Digangana.
