“I don’t mind playing a dad to a young girl in Uttaran.”
Says Gaurav Chopra who is enjoying his character as Raghuvendra Pratap Rathore in the popular show Uttaran.
With his image of a tough yet brooding guy in the Colors popular show Uttaran, the as yet unmarried Gaurav Chopra talks about how it feels to be playing a father to a young girl.
“Uttaran is a legacy show which has been around for five years and I have been around for almost three years now. I play a 45 – 50 year old dad to a young girl but wear no glasses, have no white hair, and can still beat up the bad guys in the fight sequence,” says Gaurav who plays dad to Mukta (Srijeeta De). So does it look real? “I guess, yes! It is fine with me because I think that as long as the work you are doing on screen is good and you are portraying it in a real way it doesn’t make a difference whether I look old or not. It is how as an actor, I portray the character and how the audience accepts me in that role,” explains Gaurav who’s character has a huge fan following.
He also feels that the story is the same across the entire Indian Television industry. Talking about it, Gaurav says, “Currently the situation on TV is such that you cannot be doing a role on a TV show which won’t take a leap after a year or so. Thus, any actor who takes up a show ends up playing a dad after some time.”
And what are his future plans? “Just like all other actors even I am greedy. I want to do meatier roles, I want to do variety of roles and yes, even I want to do films. Unfortunately one of my films is stuck but I am hoping for the best!” Till then he seems to be happy with his action and emotion packed role in Uttaran.
