It comes a bit of a shocker when you hear a Bollywood-Hollywood hottie Mallika coming on TV to find a life partner. One’s mind is filled with a lot of questions; first one being, didn’t she find the right guy in her journey all across the globe? “A lot of nice people did come in my life but since I was too busy, I never paid attention to that part. Then I was too focused on my career but now I want someone in my life,” observed the lady.
When we counter question as why didn’t she find someone from the film fraternity, she answered, “I wanted a normal life; a life that I left long ago to get into the entertainment business. Therefore, I want to be with people who believe in real love and this will happen only in the real world. Nothing is real here in the glamour world and that is the reason why a lot of actresses marry businessman and doctors. We all look out for real people.”
Out of the 30 suitors Mallika has, one of them is 60 plus. Hence, we asked her if he had any chance of winning her hand. “I touched his feet because I felt he had come for his son. So, basically this was a surprise from the channel’s side but as a suitor he does not appeal to me,” she remarked. (We hope that this old professor is not reading this interview)
Talking about interviews, we happened to recollect one of Mallika’s most talked about interviews to Variety Magazine. In the interview the actress had said that Indian society is too regressive and depressing for women. Moving forward from there, we asked her as to why did she choose to find a lover in the same society. “There are gang rapes happening every day. I felt after the Nirbhaya Kand, these things would stop, but they did not. After all this, would you say Indian women are progressive? I had the courage to be honest. It has to be stopped and a woman who says India is progressive is lying,” she replied.
“I am a part of the same society and I want it to change. If I feel I can make these girls aware about the fact that they have a right to choose their own partner and not shy away from this as it’s a big decision; so what’s the harm,” she queried.
Moving a bit away from her upcoming life partner hunt on TV, we asked her which way her filmy career was heading to. “There aren’t any interesting roles these days. Especially, I don’t get performance oriented roles as people have my glamorous image in mind,” she exclaimed.
Is it because you chose to go the glamorous way by shedding clothes on-screen and indulging in kissing which might have not been the right start for you? “I thought Murder was the best way to start my career. Apart from that, just the way Bollywood is set up, roles are written in a glamorous fashion,” she maintained.
What about her upcoming movie Dirty Politics? “Dirty Politics is a good movie where I have something substantial to play, unlike other films where I am just a glam doll.”
You’re all set to play the very real you on-screen; do you think the audiences will accept you for who you are? “I am sure they will as they will see the de-construction of Mallika of Murder. Moreover, for me, this will be a very emotional show as there will be a constant pressure to be real. I have also cried on the show when I was discussing certain sensitive topics like my family,” she observed.
When asked if there was love at first sight for her on the show, she remarked, “All of their muscles are bigger than their brains and love at first sight is not practical. But, yes, every girl has a romantic fantasy to have someone who would do special things for her and I am no different. I am enjoying the process completely.”
Any special proposals? “Yes, there have been many. Someone did Bungee jumping for me, one boy jumped in the pool, the other jumped from the mountain, while one carried me in his arms to the Taj Mahal. So there have been a lot of unique proposals,” Mallika revealed.
On the things she want in her life partner she maintained, “He has to be intelligent but cannot be a hypocrite. Plus, I won’t accept any kind of nonsense pertaining to my work.”
Lastly, we question her about seeking a groom by way of a TV show going by the fact that only TV actors have been on TV to get married on-screen. “I have always gone against the set rules. It’s just because I love breaking rules, I am where I am today,” she concluded.
We just hope the lady gets her desi boy!!!
