In conversation with Kanwar ‘Munna’ Dhillon

When you think of Munna (Kanwar Dhillon) in Colors’ Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha Season 2 (Sunshine Productions), you will find it very difficult to fathom what he is up to next. He is after all one of the most mysterious characters you have come across in the history of Indian television.

We contacted Kanwar to find out his views on the puzzling character he essays. The first question that we asked was whether the suspense around his character will be carried on for a long time. His reply was, “Only forty percent about Munna has been revealed till now. The suspense will continue in the time to come. As of now, the viewers can’t really predict what he will ultimately turn out to be like. Even I don’t know what the final outcome will be. This season of our serial should continue till August or September till Bigg Boss starts, so the mystery should be solved before that.”

Kanwar said that he is okay to ultimately play either a positive or a negative character. He elaborates, “Playing a negative role is a different task though. You then have more weight on your shoulders.”

What do his fans say? Do they want him to be Addu? He replies, “Ninety percent of my fans on social networking sites want me to be Addu.”

The mysterious Munna has undergone many disguises. Was it fun for the actor? “Of course it was fun. I had to work very hard on the look and mannerism of each and every disguise.”

We then questioned him on his personal life. “I am a very homely kind of a person. When I am not acting I go the gym, dance, ride my bike and dabble in photography.”
When asked what about the TV industry he would like to change, he said, “TV actors are acting round the clock and have no personal life whatsoever. When I reach home after work everyone is asleep. When I leave for work, everyone is yet to wake up. I would like the TV industry to change in a way that actors get some time for themselves.”

We came to know that he is single during the course of the conversation. What qualities is he looking for in his girlfriend? “She should be grounded, homely, well natured, good looking and have no airs about herself. My parents should approve of her too.”
