Star Plus show Mahabharat delays its launch…
It is said that the much awaited epic series will now air from 29th of July and replace Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai!
Produced by Siddharth Kumar Tewary of Swastik Productions, the epic series Mahabharat which will be aired on Star Plus is creating a buzz for quite a long time. The brand new Mahabharat which was supposed to commence from June 10th, has now been postponed. It is being said that it was the channel’s decision to delay the launch of ‘Mahabharat’. Consequently, the promos of the show have also been kept on hold for a month. Therefore, there will be no promotion in the month of June, 2013.
We tried to talk to some of the actors who have already started shooting for the epic and even as most of them admitted to being part of the show none of them knew the reason for the delay in launch.
Sameer Dharmadhikari who was last seen in Zee TV’s popular shows Yahan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli and Jhansi Ki Rani will be seen in Mahabharat, playing the character of Shantanu, King of Hastinapur. Says Sameer, “I’ve finished shooting long back and I don’t think I will be shooting with them again as mine is a very short yet very important cameo. I shot for Mahabharat for only 15 days in outdoor locations like Kashmir and Gujarat. My character Shantanu basically introduces the show and makes an exit as soon as the show builds up its drama.”
Sayantani Ghosh who was recently seen in shows like Welcome: Baazi Mehmaan Nawaazi ki on Life OK and Bigg Boss Season 6 on Colors, is also a part of Mahabharat but she too declined to comment on the delay, “Yes, you’ve heard right. I’m playing the character of ‘Satyawati’ in this show. It’s a cameo role and the show opens with me. Apart from that I cannot reveal much, about the show or the delay. ‘Mahabharat’ is planned to run for six months, so every character will be seen for a very short period of time. ”
Puneet Issar, a veteran actor, who is remembered as Duryodhan of B.R. Chopra’s Mahabharat will now be playing the role of Parshuram in the new edition of Mahabharat. Puneet says, “My character of Parshuram is very interesting. My avatar in this show is absolutely magnificent. The production people are working with great passion and hard work. Indeed, they are also investing a lot of money, time and energy to produce a good show. It’s on a grand scale this time and every minute thing has been executed in detail.”
Confirming the delay for the launch of the show, Puneet says, “Yes, there is a delay in the show going on air. The reason behind it is very simple and logical. Mahabharat is going to be a daily show. And for a daily historic show to succeed, the output too should be of high quality. The post production which involves fine graphical work, video effects and other technical patch work takes a lot of time. So basically, we are creating a bank, so that the show can run smoothly once launched.”
Our source says, “Mahabharat has plans of having a grand opening on July 29th, 2013 at the 8:30pm slot which will replace the ongoing show Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hain produced by Cinevistaa which has well known faces like Nia Sharma, Krystle Dsouza, Karan Tacker and Kushal Tandon. The show which is not showing good numbers on the TRP charts will now make a grand exit with an one hour Maha Episode to be telecast on July 27th, 2013 from 7.00 to 8:00pm.”
We tried to contact producer Siddharth Kumar Tewary about the delay in the show but he did not pick up our calls and did not revert to our text message.
So, the countdown has begun. 67 days remaining for Mahabharat to hit the floors!
