Jhanvi Chheda, known for her role as Inspector Shreya in CID on Sony Entertainment Television, is the one who carries herself with simplicity and grace. She loves wearing what makes her feel comfortable and what suits her personality. She loves collecting bags that matches her footwear.
In a chat with us, Jhanvi discloses her fashion statement:
Fashion is: Fashion is a trend that is sizzling hot right now. For certain people ‘fashion’ is like telling you what you should wear and how you should look like. But, I think that people need to discover their own style. If you like wearing certain style of clothes and if you feel good in them, then you should not consider anything else. And, never let anyone tell you, who you are.
Who chooses your clothes? I choose my own clothes and buy only stuff which fits my fashion dictionary, then be it an expensive branded top or a pair of flats bought from roadside stalls. For my shows also, I have started choosing my clothes as I only know what I am comfortable in. But I always keep in mind, the aesthetics of my character and the conditions in which I shoot.
Do you wear accessories? I like to keep it simple yet interesting. I love to wear solitaire earrings and a nice watch. I wear a delicate gold bracelet that I never take off. I wear flats or ballerinas and most of the time, I carry a nice bag. I usually match the color of my footwear with that of the bag I carry.
Do you follow any brands? I love branded stuff but I don’t really follow any particular one. I pick up stuff as and when I like it and finally if it’s worth the price.
Favourite shopping destination: Dubai, for all possible brands and the souks (markets) for non-branded, interesting stuff.
Most expensive buy: Definitely my wedding trousseau. And the best part was that, everyone actually encouraged me to buy more and more.
Clothes you are comfortable in: Denims are my all-time favourites; they are comfy and you can create innumerable looks with them.
Must-have in your wallet: My bag is my world. I always have tons of things. Cash and cards, lip balm, perfume, sunglasses, keys, my mobile phone and ear phones, a small bottle of moisturizer, tissues, chewing gum, hair band/clip, and a little make-up, if necessary.
Favourite perfume: I have two favourites, Cool Water by Davidoff and Rose Essentielle by Bvlgari. I also like Provocative by Elizabeth Arden and David Beckham Signature Women.
Colour that fills your wardrobe: I love black and can never have enough of it.
Describe Sale in one word: Sale: A smart and a tempting way to induce consumers into purchasing things they might not really need.
Currently your wardrobe is over-flowing with: Bags! I have started to hoard bags in my hubby’s wardrobe too!
You have hardest time getting dressed for: During my sister’s engagement, she, my mom and I were all getting dressed in the same hotel room with the help of a makeup artist and a hair stylist. Big mistake! Our stuff was everywhere and we kept bumping into each other which added to the chaos. I ended doing make-up in the bathroom and draped the sari without a mirror as all the other mirrors were occupied. But it was my sister’s day, so I didn’t really care. I just wanted her to look perfect.
Any fashion disaster you have come across recently: Our Indian weddings are the biggest examples of major faux pas. Most common disaster- women wear yellow gold jewelry with outfits that have silver work and stones.
If you had to choose a fashion era, which period will it be? Now! I think people are experimenting with all kinds of looks like never before. You can be what you want to be without being frowned upon.
