I live in the present and have never planned anything for me – Ankit Mohan
Saibaba Telefilms’ Ghar Aaja Pardesi on Sahara One recently saw the introduction of the male lead in actor Ankit Mohan. The talented young actor who bagged the ‘angry young man’ tag in Roadies Season 4 has come a long way to prove his mettle in acting. Ankit who hails from Delhi made his fiction debut in Real channel’s Namak Haraam. He then went on to share screen space with the doyen Ram Kapoor in Imagine TV’s Basera. Later came his Bollywood debut with the movie Mausam wherein he played best buddy to Shahid Kapoor. Soon after this, came the pivotal role in Zee TV’s Shobha Somnath Ki.
As the young lad enters the Sahara One show with zeal of confidence, he had a chat with us on his role, ambition in life and future plans.
Talking about his character in Ghar Aaja Pardesi, Ankit told us, “I play the guy Prateek Pandey who is very decent and positive. He is a person who carries positive vibes and can make people comfortable in his presence. He is an engineering student who has a passion for music. And this is where the connect happens between him and the two lead girls in the show, who are also well-versed in music. As the story progresses, there will be a love triangle wherein Prateek will fall in love with one girl, while the other girl will fall for Prateek.”
Ankit is amongst the ‘different breed of actors’ who do not like being typecast by doing similar kind of roles. “I have had a variety in terms of characters, if you see my career graph till now. I believe in providing a variation when it comes to choosing my roles. I come from a business background and never ever planned to be an actor. I was not even prepared to participate in Roadies. I happened to go to the set with a friend for audition; while he got rejected, I got selected. However, even after participating in Roadies, I was not inclined to taking up acting as my career, as I belong to a joint family wherein there is a belief that the son of the house should not leave the house to make a career. However, I convinced my dad and came to Mumbai to pursue acting as my career.”
Ankit who has earlier shared screen space with seasoned actors like Aman Verma, Sachin Tyagi, Narayani Shastri (in Namak Haraam), Ram Kapoor (in Basera) and has gone on to work in the movie of legendary actor turned Producer Pankaj Kapoor in Mausam is pretty excited to learn from veteran actors like Vikram Gokhale, Smita Jaykar and Anita Kulkarni in Ghar Aaja Pardesi. “I am eagerly looking forward to working with Vikram Gokhaleji. Unfortunately I have not yet shot with him as he is unwell and is on leave. I have been watching Smitaji and Vikramji from my school days and it is an honour to work with them. Infact, when I shot my first sequence with Anita Kulkarniji, I received a compliment from her that I am an actor who is here to stay.”
The actor went on to say, “When I came to Mumbai, I had told my father that I wanted to go through the grind, find my way in the new city and begin my struggle in a grounded way. I believed that only if I touch the ground, I will begin to respect the ground that I live in.”
On his future plans, Ankit averred, “I have never planned anything for me and will never go by a plan. All I know is that I live in the present, and will want to take up roles that are challenging.”
Ankit, we wish you all the very best for your new show.
