I have started living the life of Gunjan: Roopal Tyagi
Roopal Tyagi who started her acting career with Hamari Betiyon Ka Vivah, and then was seen in popular shows like Dill Mill Gayye, Fauji 2 and now in Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke, in talks with us…
How did you step into Tellywood?
I stepped into Tellywood through auditions. A friend of mine was into casting and asked me to give an audition. I did it and bagged the main lead of my first show.
Was acting on your mind since childhood days?
Yes, I did a paint ad when I was 5 years old. Since then, I made up my mind and always wanted to go into acting.
You belong to Bangalore; so how has your journey from Bangalore to Mumbai been?
It’s been a roller-coaster ride. I never expected that in Mumbai I would be working in front of the camera. My parents supported me always.
Which show according to you has proved as a turning point for your career?
I first believed it was Fauji 2 but now I feel it’s definitely Sapne suhane ladakpan ke. I am recognized as Gunjan from the show.
How is Roopal in her real life? Can you relate to Gunjan?
Roopal is a sensitive girl who loves life and enjoys every moment of it. Roopal is very family oriented yet independent. Roopal cares for her parents and doesn’t do anything without their consent. I relate to Gunjan as she is also sensitive, caring and human like me.
With whom do you bond the best off-screen?
I bond the best with Aanchal Khurana who plays Charu.
How do you maintain the balance between your professional and personal life?
Right now there’s no personal life since I am shooting 365 days but hoping I will make some time soon.
Tell us about the special person in your life – Aklaque Khan…
I am seeing Aklaque Khan who is acting in Na Bole Tum na maine Kuch Kaha. I made the 1st move and we have been dating for more than a year. We have no plans of marriage as of now. It will happen when the right time comes. The best part of our relationship is that we understand each other very well. He cares a lot, is mature and brings stability in my life. Both of us are spontaneous. Being in the same profession makes things easier too as we understand the nitty gritties of an actor’s life.
Any Bollywood plans?
No not yet. I am happy with what I am currently doing. After this show I will be doing a film down South.
How do you like to spend your leisure time?
I love to go to the latest places opened in Mumbai, explore world cuisine and I love watching movies but these days I am quite busy so it is very rare that I get time.
If you would be given a chance to go a vacation for a month, where would you love to go?
I would love to go Europe.
What kind of feedback do you get from your family and friends?
They think I play the same character of Roopal. They relate to me a lot. My friends and family love me and my show. My parents want me to come back for 2-3 days and spend some time with them but it’s not possible right now.
Are you active on any of the social media?
No! I am not on Twitter. I am on Facebook but I am not active.
How has life changed after Sapne Suhane ladakpan Ke?
Yes it has. I have started living the life of Gunjan and there’s no life for Roopal anymore. Wherever I go people call me by the name of Gunjan.
One Tellywood actor you would like to work with?
None of them because I don’t watch television much so I have no idea who all are there. I only watch sapne suhane ladakpan ke as I have no time.
Your dream roles?
I am already playing my dream role (Gunjan). I am playing the character which is so close to me and that is something I love a lot.
Message to your fans?
Keep smiling, be happy, live the moment. Life is beautiful. Zindagi bahut khoobsoorat Hai Jeene ka Salika Aana Chhaiye. Keep watching the show.
