Here’s unveiling Sara Khan’s Jeannie Aur Juju connection
We had recently carried a story that said that Neha Mehta had been chosen to play the second genie called Gia in SAB TV’s fantasy show Jeannie Aur Juju (Eagle Films).
Now, we have further information that before Neha signed on the dotted line, Sara Khan (Sapna Baabul Ka-Bidaai/Bigg Boss) was also in the fray to play the same character (Jeannie’s sister) but was dropped at the last minute due to a market buzz that this Ram Milaayi Jodi girl throws a lot of tantrums.
When we spoke to Sara on that, she vehemently denied the above saying, “I never auditioned for the role. Hence, where is the question of me being dropped?” Explaining the situation, this cute girl, who will soon be seen in her debut film Saanwariya says, “Two or three months ago I was called for audition. I did not know for which character they were wanting to cast me but since I knew someone very well there, I went there in good faith.”
“But when I came to know it was a parallel lead role, I declined to give the audition politely and left the set. When they complained to my contact, he too blasted them for calling me and offering me a parallel role knowing very well that I was on the lookout for lead roles only.”
Sara is also upset with rumors that some people are calling her a tantrum thrower. “ I don’t know who these jealous people are but would it not be better for them to come forward and publicly make such baseless accusations. Why hide behind the façade of anonymity?” she asks.
When we spoke to producer Rajeev Mehra, he said, “They had only auditioned Sara for the role of the main genie (played by Giaa Maanek now) back in September 2012.”
When asked as to why they chose the latter over Sara and did tantrums allegedly thrown by Sara influence their decision to go with Giaa, he replied, “No, we just made our choice and since we have not worked with Sara before, how could we have made such accusations?”
Sara confirmed that she had indeed auditioned for the role of Jeannie. “But I did not take it further as they were issues concerning money.” Here Sara also adds that she is not surprised as the producer was not aware about his unit calling her for the audition of Gia’s character as well, as many decisions are taken at the lower level itself.
