Ruk Jana Nahin 16th October 2012 Written Episode

JAIL
A mysterious stranger has come to meet Shukla.
Shukla instantly recognizes the stranger ‘What do you want…as it is, our plan has gone to dogs…Sanchi is now president again… don’t know about you, but I’m not even sure when I’ll ever get out of jail…’
Having listened to Shukla’s musings, the man then walks away – just as casually as he’d come in.

TIWARI’S ROOM
Radha pushes a slumbering Sadanand off his bed – reminding him that he had no right to sleep next to her and that his place was on the floor. The lawyer has no other go, but to sadly accept his fate.

SANCHI’S ROOM
Taking his bride’s hand in his, a delighted Indu confesses ‘I’m so happy to have you by my side’
‘Me too’ Sanchi replies happily
Just then, Roop was passing by their room in the corridors (after having met Veena in the kitchen). Tempted, she makes another attempt to disturb them by knocking on their room door!
Irked by the relentless interruptions they’d been having that night, a sullen Indu goes forth to open the door. However, it was by chance that Veena was also passing by the corridor then – with the glass of milk in her hand. Hence, Indu assumes that the mother must have knocked the door.
Handing over the glass to Indu, she apologizes for having forgotten to do so earlier and then leaves.

Closing the door yet again, Indu walks back to Sanchi with a wide smile on his face ‘Well we were jesting about having a glass of milk and here it is!’
He sits beside her ‘Let’s twist the tradition a bit…you have your share first and then I’ll have mine’
Nodding her head, Sanchi gulps down the milk with a not-so-pleasant expression and then hands it over to him. Receiving the glass from Sanchi, Indu admits lovingly ‘Sanchi let me first admire my bride…I can have this milk later on’
Sanchi says that they should probably re-enact everything from the beginning to make it all that more genuine (seeing how their act already had so many interruptions!). Indu seems game for it. He enthusiastically struts up to the doorway and then begins retracing his steps towards his wife on the bed. In the meanwhile, Sanchi had also pulled her veil down – waiting in anticipation for him to approach her.

Eventually getting to sit beside his veiled bride, he confesses his love aloud ‘Sanchi…I love you’
Seeing no reaction from her, he lifts her veil – only to realize she was resting on her knees, fast asleep!
The young groom is thoroughly confounded. He calls out to her, but she doesn’t respond.
Needless to say, Indu gets frustrated ‘Lord..what’s this…what was meant to happen will never happen now…’

Though disheartened, he then assists the dozing girl to rest her head on the pillow properly. Relishing her beauty for a few moments, Indu then proceeds to switch off the lights.

Next morning…
Sanchi groggily opens her eyes and feels the bed beside her. She realizes that Indu wasn’t sleeping next to her. Her head feeling heavy, she sits up and then notices that the dashing young man was actually getting dressed up in front of the mirror.
‘Indu’ she calls out to him
Slipping on his watch, he turns around to observe her with a smile ‘Good morning Dharampatniji’
‘What time is it?’
‘It’s late…9 am now…’ he answers spiritedly ‘You slept early last night…and you’ve woken up late this morning…’
‘I don’t remember anything’ the perplexed girl mutters
Letting out a slight grin, Indu sits on the bed with his elbow resting on her as he tries jogging her memory ‘Just at the precise moment when I was about to lift your veil, I noticed that you were fast asleep… and you never woke up after that…’ he pauses ‘It’s all right…it happens sometimes… due to exhaustion’
Sanchi is not convinced. She casts a glance at the glass of milk beside her ‘No I wasn’t all that exhausted’

She blames the glass of milk for her drowsy state and enquires if Indu had had any of it. However, the enthralled man is least bothered about listening to any stories about the ‘glass-of-milk’ any longer.
Seeing that Sanchi continued to stare at the glass, he props himself close to her and leans against the headboard. Turning her face to face him, he starts complaining sweetly ‘Why are you glaring at that glass, why don’t you gaze at me instead… as it is, you’ve sacrificed last night – thanks to this glass of milk or whatever…at least this morning…’
He pulls her face towards his to give her a peck, but she playfully nudges him away ‘It’s already 9 in the morning…’ Slipping away from the bed, she takes him to task ‘I have to leave for the university…you’ve woken up early and gotten yourself ready…didn’t bother to wake me up…’
Walking up to her cupboard, she picks out a salwar and asks him about his opinion. Getting off the bed, he starts strolling towards her as he shrugs his shoulders in response ‘Its good…’ Soon after, he walks behind her and grabs the unwitting girl by her waist as he mutters into her ears ‘You see… I can’t notice anything else for now, other than the love in your eyes…so, whatever you wear would look good anyway!’
Once again having to free herself from his clasp, Sanchi mischievously tries changing the topic. She picks out another kurta from his wardrobe and asks him to change into it – replying that he’d look better in her choice!
‘Fine’ he accepts it from her casually ‘Your wish is my command!’

Having given him his dress, Sanchi is about to walk away – but Indu clutches her hand and pulls her back to face him. Wrapping her within his hold by firmly slipping his hands around her waist, he looks into her eyes. Tightly confined within his grasp she smiles at his flirtatious antics- knowing wholly well what was going on in his mind.
He drops his tone to a whisper ‘Please have your bath and return quickly…if not, I’ll have to leave for university all by myself!’
She pushes him away and then raises her finger at him – threatening him with mock anger ‘How dare you… you do something like that and wait and watch what will happen!’
Grinning at her efforts, Indu grabs her by her wrists and questions her – his frown as naughty as could be ‘Why…what will you do…’ while the playful girl tries freeing herself from him, he smiles broadly – not letting her go ‘No…no… tell me what will you do…tell me first…I’m waiting to hear it…’
Sanchi ultimately disentangles herself from his grasp. Having enjoyed their light-hearted amorous banter, Indu lets out a chuckle as Sanchi gives him her answer before hurrying out of the room ‘I’ll let you know once I get back from University…in the evening…’
‘And I’ll be WAITING for that…’ Indu mutters under his breath – his smile now a shade more bashful as he silently conjures up the possibilities!

DINING ROOM
Indu arrives at the dining table and discovers that his mother-in-law had prepared all of his favourite dishes. Complimenting her culinary skills, the loyal son-in-law seeks her blessings – seeing that it was his first day as the proper ‘damaad’ there. Once Veena had blessed him, Indu walks up to Tarachand to gain blessings from him, but the father snubs the man by walking away from the scene.
To add to his misery, Sadanand arrives there and starts his usual antics i.e. uttering greetings and wishes laden with sarcasm.
Radha and Sadha begin teasing Indu about his Suhaag Raat – enquiring why he’d emerged at the breakfast table so early. However, Indu seems to have taken on a stance of ‘non-reaction’. He simply refuses to acknowledge any of their remarks and sports nothing beyond an annoyed frown in reply!

SANCHI’S ROOM
Sanchi gets dressed for university – taking pride in applying her sindoor and sporting her mangalsutra.

TARACHAND’S ROOM
Veena admonishes Tarachand for spurning away Indu’s efforts and gestures time and again.
‘He’s trying to change…he’s not as bad as you consider him to be…your acceptance of this relationship will work well for everyone!’ Veena advices
However, Tarachand is not one to concede so easily. Not only does he refuse to accept Indu as his son-in-law, he also re-iterates his point that Sanchi would repent for this wrong decision in future!
Only then, does the father realize that Indu was actually standing at his doorstep – listening to their conversation. An awkward silence looms in the room as Indu approaches Tarachand.
The young man once again tries touching the father’s feet, but Tarachand stops him in his tracks.
‘I can understand why you’re so worried…’ Indu states ‘Its justified…whatever wrong I’ve done to you or to Sanchi, I know its not possible for you to forgive me instantly…however, I promise you that I’ll show you that I’m worthy of her…whatever my image in society is, I’ll try and reform it…’
An anxious Veena then butts in and brings their conversation to an instant halt by reminding them that breakfast was turning cold. As she leads her son-in-law outside the door, she apologizes to Indu on behalf of her husband ‘Sanchi is his life…he worries about his daughter a lot…that’s why’
Sporting a warm smile, Indu brushes off her fears – letting her know that he fully well understood the sentiments of a father.

DINING HALL
Just as their conversation ends, Sanchi appears at the dining hall steps. Her arrival in the form of a newly wedded bride (i.e. Sindoor/MS et al) catches the attention of both Indu and Veena. While Indu is transfixed by his wife’s beauty – he has to try hard not to reveal his delight in front of his mother-in-law. However, Veena does not quite have the same reservations. Pacing up to her daughter, she praises her beauty and applies the ‘nazar tikka’ on her. Why, even Radha has a good word or two to spare ‘Its no surprise that our nephew had fallen head-over-heels in love with her!’ the vile lady says

Sanchi then seeks the blessings of all the elders in the house – including Anita and Sushil.
Anita gifts her a sindoor-daana and wishes her all the best in her married life with her husband. Accepting the gift, Sanchi glimpses at Indu to gauge his reactions – well let’s just say that the man sports a very endearing diplomatic smile in response to their comments.
Needless to say, Radha is forced to put on a show too and forces Sadanand to cough up some money as a ‘gift’ for the couple. Veena follows thereafter – gifting Indu a gold chain and a pair of gold jhumkas for Sanchi.
The mother and daughter then have an emotional moment till Veena realizes that the pair were getting late for university.

Its only then that Sanchi notices that her father was not around. Stubbornly refusing to heed her mother’s explanations she sets out to seek him.

TARACHAND’S ROOM
Sanchi’s choice of husband might have angered Tarachand, yet watching her as a young bride did bring tears to his eyes ‘My little daughter has suddenly become a big girl’ he says proudly
Sanchi thereafter takes him to task for not having breakfast with her. He comes up with a lame excuse to avoid confrontation, but she calls him out on his bluff. She confesses that she knew why he was not present at the table, but that she felt incomplete without her father. She goes on to placate him by reminding him that she was still a young ‘daddy’s’ girl – after all he was the one who’d taught her to read, write and laugh!
The emotional old man succumbs to her justifications and then decides to join the family at the table.

Indu and Veena are pleased that Tarachand had decided to join them at the table. However, what Indu was probably not prepared for was Tarachand’s many angry glares aimed at him.

PRECAP
Indu’s made some beautiful lunch arrangements for Sanchi – possibly because she’d skipped her lunch that noon at college. He tells her she’d barely had any breakfast as it was and that as long as he was alive, he’d never let his wife stay hungry.
