“I am totally opposite of Nisha in real life”: Priyanka
We talks to the on screen mom, Nisha aka Priyanka Nayyar about her life, love and career…
You are seen portraying the role of Latika’s mom in Pyaar Ka Dard Hai…Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara… with a negative shade to it, can you tell a bit more about it?
I am playing the character named Nisha, who is the mother of Latika. They are pretending to be rich however in reality they are in debt. She is using her daughter to get married to Aditya so she can pay her loan, as people are after her to
pay their money back.
How does it feel playing a mom onscreen?
It is not according to my age, but I would never say no to any of the roles, because it’s a role and not reality. Also I have this rich look in this show, compared to my last role in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai where I played the role of Lalita Mami with an Indian look, who is a married woman from the village. I am enjoying the roles, I always wanted to do a glamorous kind of role.
What are you like in real life?
I am very emotional, and get attached to people very easily. I am a bubby person and speak anything without thinking. I like to be who I am and not pretend to be someone else. I love shopping and going out, and I don’t like working and sitting at home which is totally opposite of Nisha.
Which is your current favourite track?
I love listening to sad songs. However I like all kind of music.
Anything you would like to change about the TV industry?
Not really, I am enjoying the way it is. I am actually a doctor by profession, but by God’s grace I am here now. I had never thought about acting and sometimes I wonder how it all happened. I had never dreamt about being an actress, but no complaints, I love it. Also the industry has accepted me the way I am, and welcomed me with open arms. I have never experienced any sort of negativity and I believe I am in a happy place currently. Having said that, I will never give up the profession of being a doctor.
Your dream vacation spot?
Hawaii. I have never been there, but I have been to Switzerland and London. I like snowy destinations. If I were to talk about India, then it has to be Kanyakumari and water sports. I am a water person and enjoy it to the fullest.
Your definition of true love.
Love should not demand a change in me and my man should accept me the way I am. If he tells me to change, then it isn’t true love.
Do you love pets?
Yes I love pets, while giving this interview I am sitting with my Labrador. I love dogs. I can have so many dogs in my house. I am very emotionally attached to them, I don’t like it when they fall ill.
Any bad habit of yours that you want to get rid of?
Yes my anger. I am very short tempered and very emotional. Sometimes this emotional side of me raises expectations from family members or the person I love which gets me irritated and angry. I want to get rid of this from myself. Also I love shopping a lot and I am crazy about my shoes. Even on shoot when I wear a saree and my foot wear cannot be seen I am very much concerned about wearing the right shoes. I don’t want to show off, but if my heels are not there I don’t feel comfortable doing the shoot.
A movie you are looking forward to watch?
I am really looking forward to watch the movie Heroine, I love the glamor and movies like Fashion.
If you could rename yourself, what would it be?
I want to be called Kiara, I just love the name. I just wish I could be known as Kiara, I am waiting for people to call me by that name.
Any message for your fans:
I have changed from doctor to an actor since the past one year only because of my fans. They have encouraged me and pointed out my mistakes and appreciated my good work. Their love and admiration is what has brought me so far. I also want to wish them all a very happy festive season.
