Diya Aur Baati Hum 10th October 2012 Written Update

Suraj is waiting impatiently in the function hall. Sandhya calls him to inform that she could not come as Meena’s is not well. He tells her the function is in honor of her and does not feel good if she does not attend it. Sandhya tells him to express her apologies to DSP and others and she will know about the function later from him. Ankur comes to Suraj and he informs that Sandhya could not come. Ankur informs DSP and they proceed with the function.

Meena is thinking she has done enough acting to stop Sandhya from not attending the function and now she should stop as her throat is paining. She returns to the hall. Sandhya asks how she is feeling. Meena says she is feeling giddy and weak as she has vomited everything and now feels like eating some snacks. Sandhya wonders what she will prepare and Meena suggests her to prepare kachori that she learnt for the competition. Sandhya starts cooking.

DSP welcomes all the people and informs them that the person whom they were going to honor could not make it to the function but her husband is present there and calls Suraj to the stage. Suraj is honored and shy and checking whether he has the chit in his pocket while coming to the stage. DSP asks him to say some words on Sandhya. Suraj goes to the mike and takes out the chit and starts chutki, then recognizes it is different letter and reads the letter silently and gets emotional. He reads the full letter which Sandhya wrote for her niece and gets very emotional and getting flashback of previous incidents…the recent one where Ankur and Sandhya talking about dream and when he interferes, Sandhya tells they were cherishing childhood memories…the Singapore photo incident where Sandhya is wearing police uniform and he compliments her…the delhi incident where she identifies the fake policeman and describes the details of the uniform and Suraj wonders these things are not written in books, etc.

Guest, DSP and other people are surprised as Suraj is not saying anything for a long time. DSP goes to Suraj and touches his shoulder. Suraj realizes the situation and starts speaking. He apologizes to all saying he became emotional. He says he is a very simple man, a halwai and would not dare to stand in front of so many people if Sandhya would not be with him. He praises her as a good wife, daughter-in-law, a good citizen, further a good daughter and pauses remembering Sandhya’s words in the letter of not able to fulfill her father’s dream. He then continues she is a good sister and daughter too. He says they are miles apart in character but Sandhya’s simplicity, honesty and other characters have vanished the differences between them. Further praising her, he says she is very determined and never rests without accomplishing and pauses again remembering the words from the letter of Sandhya saying chutki to become an IPS officer and Sandhya would be the first person to be happy when chutki fulfills the dream. He tells that he cannot speak any further and concludes his speech.

Sandhya is shown preparing kachori and Meena resting on the cot in the hall.

The chief guest gives the certificate framed to Suraj and congratulates him. The DSP gives him the bouquet. DSP praises Sandhya’s bravery and says she has the blessings of the all the people of Pushkar and wishes all her dreams would come true. Suraj again goes to mike and apologizes and then thanks everyone for the honor on behalf of Sandhya. Chief guest leaves. Suraj holding the certificate and bouquet comes to Ankur. He gives the chutki’s letter to him and asks what is it. Ankur takes the letter and recognizes it.

Sandhya while cooking burns and cries. Meena comes there listening to it. She is feeling happy as she has successfully prevented Sandhya attending the function. She says what is there in the medals, they are not worth and her real medal is family and Sandhya should start planning her family and while speaking Meena keeps her finger in her mouth and tastes it. Sandhya observes this and is getting angry. Meena thinks she is angry for her words and tells why she is angry as everything seems to be fine between SurYa. Sandhya takes her finger and smells it. She asks Meena how come her finger is smelling lemon. Meena stutters and says she was trying to prepare nimbu paani. Sandhya says when she came to the kitchen, there was no evidence of any nimbu (lemon) being cut in the kitchen and asks her whether she made nimbu paani or put lemon juice in milk showing her the lemon seed in the spoilt milk.

Precap: Sandhya still in kitchen, seems like Suraj has returned home and given her the framed certificate. Bhabho taunts Suraj for always being with his wife, whether it is mayka or kitchen. He is the elder son of the family and is behaving shameless. Suraj upset. Meena listening to it hiding somewhere behind.
