Scene 1 – A Dark Room
The episode begins in a dimly lit room, with an unidentified man sitting at a table with suspicious-looking electronic components upon it. Another guy enters and asks if his work is done, angrily saying that he’d promised to do it by 3 o’ clock and pointing out that he needs to answer some other person as well. The anonymous man claims he’s a man of his word, hands the guy his wristwatch and tells him to check if it’s alright. As soon as the latter does so, the watch explodes and kills him.
Scene 2 – Rose Villa
The action switches to a scene outside one Rose Villa; it’s being moved into and workers are seen carrying in furniture, boxes and other equipment from a truck. The owners are seen ordering them around and instructing for their possessions to be handed carefully. The lady, Milani, suspects that there somehow seem to be more objects there than expected, but her husband Prateek ignores it and continues on with their work. Milani gets furious with him about it. Shortly afterwards, a guy claiming to be an RTB telephone employee enters, apparently to install a telephone in their bedroom. Milani asks for his identity card; he shows it, but Prateek soon brushes it aside and takes him into inside the house.
The guy finds out that the bedroom’s connection is damaged, and the phone needs to be installed in the hall. Milani finds this inconvenient and tells him to repair the bedroom connection at once, but the guy says that he has more work to attend that day. Prateek tells him to install it in the hall anyway, and assures Milani that he’ll answer it himself to save her the hassle. Milani begins taunting him, and gets into an argument before storming off. Prateek is furious but directs the telephone fella to go about his work. The clock strikes 12:30 AM; the couple gets into yet another argument shortly before winding up for the day. Milani asks the maid if the windows and doors are all closed, and they both leave for bed. Further into the night at 2:00 AM, the telephone. Grumbling and wondering who it is, Milani goes on to answer it. Barely does she pick up the receiver than there’s a great explosion.
Scene 3 – Rose Villa (inside)
The CID team comprising of Daya sir, Sachin and Fredericks is seen examining the crime scene while the ambulance staff carries out Milani’s body; Prateek and maid are seen mourning her untimely demise. They recount the incident to Daya sir and say that they were both sleeping when the phone rang, and were awakened by the blast. Sachin notes that the remains of the phone don’t seem to indicate that the bomb was planted within. The maid says that the blast took place exactly at 2:00 AM. Prateek tells Daya sir that they moved in exactly at 1:00 PM earlier that day, and Milani had been suspecting that there was more luggage in the truck than there should’ve been. Sachin asks if they’d noted any other suspicious signs, and they recall the telephone dude incident, how he claimed the bedroom connection was faulty and installed it in the hall. He says that they hadn’t called him, and had let him in thinking that their agent had. They can’t recall his name. Fredericks checks the bedroom connection and finds that there’s nothing wrong with it. Sachin says that this was a well-planned assassination by the phony telephone guy. Daya sir says that they need to find out where the bomb was planted, and where the fatal phone call had been made from. He asks Prateek for their agent’s name and phone number.
Scene 4 – The Estate Office
ACP sir, Abhijeet sir, Rajat and Nikhil meet the estate agents Amit and Karan, and enquire about the Rose Villa. They are shocked to learn about the blast, and reveal that the Rose Villa had actually been allotted to two Kanpur residents – Mahant and Natasha, whereas Prateek and Milani had been allocated some other bungalow. Karan is rebuked by Amit and confesses that he must’ve made a mistake in the allocations due to the work load. Apparently, both parties were in a hurry to move in and did so without checking out the details or visiting the bungalows beforehand, and the Villa’s owner in Bangalore had just taken the money and signed papers without any confirmations either. The ACP and Abhijeet sir tell them off for their carelessness. Amit claims to know nothing about the blast or the fake telephone guy, and informs them that the Villa’s phone connection had already been installed 15 days ago. The ACP and Abhijeet decide to meet Mahant and Natasha, and find out more about this mysterious phone technician.
Scene 5 – The RTB Telephone Exchange
ACP sir, Sachin, Fredericks and Prateek’s maid visit the RTB telephone exchange and meet the area’s supervising manager to enquire about the murder. The manager looks into it and finds out that the Rose Villa’s telephone connection had been installed two weeks ago by one Chander, who is summoned to the office. The maid looks at him and says that he isn’t the guy who had turned up at Rose Villa the previous day, adding that her mistress had checked his I-card as well. ACP sir asks Chander if he’d given his I-card to someone else; the latter grows nervous and attempts to flee, but is chased and caught by Sachin. Chander confesses that it was an anonymous person who’d been meeting him outside the telephone exchange for a while and then, after befriending him, offered a hefty sum of money after explaining his plan. He adds that the guy used to leave in rickshaws to Charkop (?).
Scene 6 – Mahant’s House
In Mahant’s house, the servant calls his owner for lunch. Mahant notes that it’s two minutes to 2:00 PM and Natasha is still asleep; he says that they need to cut down on her sleeping pills. The servant asks if she’d set her alarm clock. At this point, ACP sir and the others visit the house and inform Mahant about the incident at the Rose Villa; he says that Amit told him about it. Sachin shows them the photos of Prateek and Milani and reveals that they went to the doomed house which had originally been allotted to him. Mahant doesn’t recognize them and says that the mix-up was Karan’s fault.
ACP sir informs him that the bomb which claimed Milani’s life was likely intended for him and Natasha; Mahant is shocked to learn this, and tells him that Natasha is still sleeping. Just as ACP sir tensely notes that the clock’s struck 2:00 PM, a massive explosion rings out from Natasha’s bedroom. They rush inside, and Mahant is overwhelmed with hysterical grief at the sight of her mangled body. The cops attempt to calm him, and ACP sir asks Sachin and Fredericks to search the room for clues. Sachin finds remnants of various clocks; Mahant tells them that Natasha had trouble waking up and therefore used to set alarms in three different clocks, which she’d purchased from a nearby shop named Needs. ACP sir says that the bomb could’ve possibly been installed in one of them.
Scene 7 – The Forensic Lab
ACP sir, Abhijeet and the others meet Dr. Salunkhe in the forensic lab. The doctor pieces together the ravaged remains of furniture taken from the Rose Villa and manages to reconstruct the carbon chain of the compound the bombs were made of – primarily one CesPex toxin or something (sorry, I couldn’t make out the exact name). He adds that particularly large amounts of this compound have been found upon the fragments of a clock, along with remains of the bomb’s detonator. Daya sir says that the clock could’ve been among the extra load noticed by Milani. ACP sir asks Fredericks and Sachin to put together the remains of the clock. Abhijeet and Daya sir note how the phone call and bomb being triggered inside the clock took place at the same time – 2:00 AM.
ACP sir says that they need to find out who made that particular call. Daya sir suspects the maid because she claimed the blast took place exactly at 2 o’ clock, but couldn’t possibly have known the time as she had no watch with her. Dr. Salunkhe adds that he’s found a nearly identical (in terms of composition) bomb’s remains in the evidence gathered from Natasha’s room as well. Dr. Tarika adds that the bombs were crudely made with cheap components, indicating that their maker was an amateur. However, he/she was also an able engineer as they had modified the clock’s hand to act as a trigger. ACP sir pieces together both the incidents and concludes that Milani was unfortunately an accidental victim whereas Natasha was the real target, whom the killer murdered with an identical bomb within 24 hours after the first failed attempt. Sachin finds a sticker upon one of the fragments of the clock, and Dr. Tarika helps them make out what it reads – “S.K”. ACP sir says that it could be the initials of a company or shop where the clock had been made or sold.
Scene 8 – S.K. Shop
Abhijeet sir, Rajat and Nikhil visit the S.K. shop in question; the owner recognizes both the initials and the clock that had contained this fragment, informing them that he’d sold it about a week ago. He’s shocked to learn about the deadly blast and says that he’d sold it to some man; he recognizes and confirms the sketch of the phony telephone guy. He doesn’t know his name, but recalls overhearing him talking on phone about Charkop. Nikhil points out that the guy who used to meet Chander allegedly took rickshaws to Charkop as well. Abhijeet sir decides to pay the place a visit in pursuit of their quarry.
Scene 9 – A Shop In Charkop
The three cops search the Charkop area, but initially come up with nothing. Eventually, they enquire at a furniture shop and one of the workers tells them that the man in the sketch is their seth Makran. He recognizes the clock fragment, but is shocked to learn about the bombs and says that he’d simply seen Makran taking the clocks in and out of the shop. He takes them to the room where the clocks used to be kept, and mentions that Makran always had it locked and never allowed them to enter. Abhijeet sir finds bomb-making equipment spread out upon Makran’s table, alongside several clocks. The worker says that although they saw Makran bringing in the clocks, they had no idea that he’d been rigging them with explosives. Rajat finds several photos of the Rose Villa’s vacant interiors pinned upon one of the walls. Abhijeet sir says that Makran entered the Villa before Prateek and Milani moved in and photographed its interiors in order to decide where to plant the bomb-rigged clock. He adds that someone familiar with the place must’ve given Makran the keys to the Villa. He asks the worker where Makran is.
Scene 10 – Needs
ACP sir, Abhijeet sir and Rajat visit the Needs shop and question the shopkeeper, who recognizes the watches’ receipt and says that it was sold to Natasha by one Sohan in there, who hasn’t turned up for work that day. He adds that Sohan had only joined two days ago and the watches in question didn’t seem to belong to their shop’s stock, though Sohan claimed otherwise, and he ignored it since Natasha was willing to purchase them. ACP sir rebukes him for his carelessness, and says that Sohan had everything planned out in advance – knowing that Natasha would come to that particular shop to get watches, he got employed there and sold her the deadly bomb-rigged ones he’d brought with him. Upon being asked, the shopkeeper provides them with Sohan’s number from his mobile log. Abhijeet sir notices that it’s actually the number of the estate agent Karan, and that it’s currently switched off. Rajat concludes that Karan went under the alias of Sohan for the sole purpose of selling Natasha the rigged watches; ACP sir adds that he must’ve been the one who gave the Villa’s keys to Makran as well. They decide to arrest him.
Scene 11 – The Estate Office
The three cops revisit the estate office, only to be told by an upset Amit that Karan had been fatally hit by a truck that morning. The ACP and Abhijeet sir remain convinced that the incident was a deliberate murder in order to prevent Karan from babbling out the truth to the CID. Amit assures them that the supposed mix-up regarding the bungalows was Karan’s doing alone, not his. ACP sir presses him on for further details, assuring that no harm shall come to him. Amit says that Karan had been quite disturbed since the past 10 days, and seemed to be hiding something that he never revealed. He adds that Karan had been sleeping in the office for two days, not even going back home. Finding all of this quite suspicious, the cops decide to search Karan’s house. ACP sir notices a painting on the wall that wasn’t there during their previous visit to the office. Amit confirms that Karan had purchased it two days ago. ACP sir wonders why he chose to purchase this painting in such a tense situation, and proceeds to dismount the same. They dismantle it and find an envelope within. ACP sir pulls out a paper from it, examines it and exclaims that this was Karan’s secret and the reason behind his, Natasha’s and Milani’s deaths.
Scene 12 – A Road/The Qualis
Sachin and Nikhil are seen lying in wait for Makran near a large line of buses. Their quarry eventually comes along; they recognize and go up to meet him, sarcastically asking him about Natasha and Milani’s murders. Makran arrogantly says that they have no evidence against him, but Sachin informs him that the late Karan had penned down all of his dark deeds on a paper which they now possess. Makran attempts to flee, but Sachin seizes and hands him a tight SLAP ™. Inside the Qualis, Makran confesses that he committed the three murders out of greed for money – Karan hired him after finding out about his bomb-making skills and informing him that someone was willing to pay him a hefty sum for rigging clocks with explosives. He was asked to kill Milani and began his dark mission by surveying the interiors of the Rose Villa first, and then snuck in the rigged clock into Prateek and Milani’s possessions when they were moving in. Then, while disguised as the telephone technician, he saw that the clock had been placed in the hall and insisted on installing the phone there in order to connect the two. The watches responsible for Natasha’s death had been rigged by him as well. He had to murder Karan in order to eliminate any potential danger of being exposed. Sachin demands for the identity of the mastermind behind it all.
Scene 13 – Rooftop
The scene switches to a rooftop where Mahant is seen meeting Prateek, who presses that he’s kept his word despite the CID having ruined their plans. To keep his, Mahant hands him a briefcase and they decide to part ways once and for all. Prateek is about to open it when the CID turns up and captures Mahant. ACP sir and Daya sir warn Prateek not to open the suitcase and back away from it. Prateek does as told; Daya sir rushes to check it and flings it high into the air, where it explodes in a cloud of mushroom fire. Prateek and Mahant get into a heated argument and attempt to push the blame on each other; Daya sir hands both of them jaw-shattering SLAPS ™.
Scene 14 – The CID Bureau
In the bureau, the cops proceed to spill out the deceitful duo’s dark secrets in three minutes – although they lied about it earlier, they had in fact known each other since 1999 when they had incepted a factory together, and then moved apart when the business failed – Prateek went to Darjeeling and Mahant to Kanpur. Prateek decided to murder Mahant so that he could claim sole ownership of the factory. They met again to hatch this latest plot, and Karan – who used to be their servant many moons ago – noted it all down in the paper they’d retrieved from within the painting.
Prateek and Mahant confess that it all began due to Prateek, as Milani was trying to force him into selling the factory in order to pay off their debts. Therefore, after finding out that Mahant and Natasha were moving into Mumbai, he enlisted Makran’s vile services to have the Rose Villa rigged with a bomb. Prateek was tired of Milani’s attitude and refusal to grant him divorce, so after finding out about Karan’s mix-up regarding the two bungalows, decided to use the opportunity to get rid of her anyway. Mahant couldn’t approach the cops after finding out about Prateek’s intentions, because he had quite a few skeletons in his own closet. Therefore, he decided to take matters into his own grubby hands and rang up Prateek to threaten and call him over to meet at some old familiar place.
(Flashback Begins)
Prateek asserts that Mahant has no evidence against him, but the latter claims otherwise and ridicules Prateek regarding the failed attempt on his life. He adds that while he could easily go on to report Prateek to the CID, he’s got an alternate plan which would be profitable for both of them. He goes on to correctly guess that Milani’s death was a deliberate act on Prateek’s part (which Prateek is reluctant to admit) and informs him that his own wife Natasha’s life has been insured for 50 crore rupees. He reveals his intent to murder her in order to obtain this money and pay off his debts, and asks for Prateek’s help while promising to pay him half of the sum in return, assuring him that the CID will never find out about it. Prateek eventually agrees, and Mahant tells him to get it done within 24 hours before leaving. Prateek proceeds to contact Makran.
(Flashback Ends)
In the bureau, Makran confesses that he accepted Prateek’s offer upon when his insatiable thirst for blood money was offered to be quenched further. Karan had managed to make out the dark dealing between Mahant and Prateek, and they were forced to silence him as well. Mahant had rigged the briefcase in Scene 13 with explosives because he was tired of Prateek’s impatient demand for his share even before the insurance money had been encashed. ACP sir lambasts their ruthless crimes and says that the three of them shall now have plenty of time to observe time ticking by in the prison, before death greets them at the gallows.
