“I do see my dream girl in my dreams” : Karan Tacker
The aadarsh beta, bhai aur pati is something that every woman wishes to have. Viren aka Karan Tacker is one such gentleman who has won a million hearts with his adorable smile and noble qualities.
How would you say your journey on TV has been so far?
It has been fantastic. The industry has accepted me with open arms. This is my 3 rd show and the audience has been very supportive of my work too. I’ve had the pleasure to do all my shows with Star, right from Love Ne Mila Di Jodi to Rang Badalti Odhani , Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hain, as well as IIFA Red Carpet hosting. I did variety of characters, which were surely satisfying. TV has grown by leaps and bounds and audiences have matured as well. We have moved beyond the saas-bahu sagas.
Anchoring IIFA Red carpet was a good opportunity and platform to interact with film industry folks. Variety of content is being made and audiences’ standards and expectations are high. There is no guarantee of what will click and what won’t.
Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hain is more about the brother and sister relationship. What prompted you to take up this role?
I’ve played notorious, flamboyant characters till now, so this progression to a subtler mature role came in naturally. My character Viren is the eldest son of the Wadhera family and is an ace lawyer. Viren is committed to his family values as well as respected and proficient professionally. He is a shy man in his personal life, especially in the presence of women. He possesses a very rational mind. The human element of the character appealed to me and also the channel and the production house were the deciding factors when the offer came. The feedback so far is good.
Of the roles that you have played so far which is the one you can identify with?
Well, all in fact. I think I was a flirtatious Sameer from Love Ne Bana Di Jodi when I was in college. I relate to Viren from Ek Hazaro Mein the most as I am extremely close to my family and a balance between a subtle and flirtatious natured individual. Viren is a very realistic character. I do believe in the tagline of Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi kabhi Gam: Life is all about loving your parents.
There were reports of you dating your co-star Krystal D’Souza, is there any truth to that?
Not at all, not that I refute the idea she’s beautiful and an amazing person but our chemistry is more like two boys than any other relationship. We are just buddies and good co-stars. A guy and girl can be only friends too it is as simple as that. Don’t we have co-ed schools and colleges? Industry and the media make a mountain out of a molehill.
What kind of a girl you will like to date?
Well as of now I am married to my work, but I like a girl with a strong persona, she’s got to be funny enough to understand my stupid sense of humor and of course she has to be drop dead gorgeous. I am open to the idea of falling in love. But love is something you can’t plan. Pyaar Kiya Nahi Jaata Ho Jaata Hai. I do see my dream girl in my dreams Kabhi toh milegi Kahi toh milegi..Aaj Nahi toh Kal.
Where will the audience see you after Ek Hazaaron Mein….
Well, I would like to do some more performance oriented lead roles, which are a bit surprising for me. I would like a creatively challenging role. I have realized that I enjoy anchoring, so I would love to anchor a reality or chat show. I am a perfectionist and I hate compromising on my choices in terms of work.
When you are not acting, what do you do? How do you like to spend your time?
I love watching films and working out. I call myself a ‘Homebody’ since I love to spend time with mom, dog, and sister and when dad is in town I like to take them all out for dinner. I enjoy partying too but with select close friends. Life is beautiful and I try to make others happy too in my presence.
You haven’t done any reality shows as yet. What kind of reality shows you would like to do? If you are offered Big Boss will you take it?
It has been a conscious decision not to take up a reality show. I was offered Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, but I am not a fan of dancing so didn’t take it up as I felt if I don’t have my heart in it and wont be able to do my best. I only like to do something where I know I will do it with the best of my abilities. If I am offered Bigg Boss and have inmates like Sunny Leone for company I will consider it. I am open for a reality show if the concept appeals to me.
Don’t you want to act in films? What kind of films you would like to do…Who are your idols?
I’d love to do films. It is more creatively involving and films give you time to work on characters. I would love to do something like a Rockstar, Zindagi Na Milegi Doobara..I am a big fan of Imtiaz Ali and Anurag Kashayap. I truly idolize, Mr Amitabh Bacchan, SRK and Ranbir Kapoor’s work. TV actors are doing films and film actors are doing television. It’s just a matter of time, luck and opportunity. I wish I also get some good offer soon.
What is your philosophy of life?
Live and let live. I believe “It’s nice to be important but it is more important be nice”
