‘I wish I was a lady on the show’- Sachin Parikh
His younger brother Amar may have been more successful than him. Does that make Sanjay Vyas inferior? No. He is after all a self-made man and a very nice person. We in talks with Sachin Parikh who plays Sanjay on Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha
Do you think that Sanjay Vyas is happily married? Renu is after all far from being the ideal wife and is always conspiring…
When it comes to daily fiction there has to be one grey or negative character who tries to complicate the life of the lead and in our show it is Sanjay Vyas’s wife Renu. He is overpowered, in fact handicapped by his dominating wife. There was a cameo with Renu’s twin sister Venu, where Sanjay is getting mushy mushy about the latter. He had actually wished to marry Venu. However as Renu was three minutes older he was compelled to marry Renu as in India siblings after all have to marry in birth order.
Also there was supposed to be a track in which Sanjay gets cozy with a female colleague but doesn’t have an affair. However as he is not too happy in his marriage he indulges in some healthy flirting which makes Renu jealous. However that track was scrapped, I am not sure as to why.
Do you think that Sanjay is an exemplary dad? Yes, he is strict with his errant son, however if he is on more friendly terms he will be able to reach out better to him…
There have unfortunately been very few scenes on the father-son relationship. They have usually shown Tannu being up to some mischief and his dad scolding him. Sanjay could surely have been friendly with his son yet be a strict dad. He could have lovingly guided his son to embark upon the right path.
Aanjjan Srivastav said that Vedkant Vyas couldn’t give Sanjay as good education as his younger son Amar as when Sanjay was a boy he didn’t have the money to put him in a good school. Is Sanjay still upset with that?
Yes, there have been some lovely scenes showing that. He wanted to be a Chartered Accountant. However he had to take up a job early in life to financially support his family and to enroll his brother Amar in a reputed engineering college. He does hold his family responsible for this discrimination and even went into depression and took to drinking because of that.
It is natural for a less successful older brother to have an inferiority complex if the younger brother was more successful and richer. However I have great respect for Sanjay too since he is a self-made man. Indeed he has got a promotion in his job. He is nice and an awesome brother-in-law to Megha…had Sanjay visited a counselor she would have made him aware of his positive qualities, asked him not to compare himself with the late Amar and have inculcated more self-esteem in him…
Sanjay got a promotion and increment in his job. With that he became more contended and controlled. In the track when he watches on TV his brother being killed, he has tears in his eyes, his deep-rooted brotherly love very poignantly comes out. Sanjay then realizes that he has been wrong by being intimidated by his late brother. He stops cribbing and having mood swings and realizes his individuality.
Sanjay must be in mental agony as because of Renu a car has been bought with Amar’s money…
Renu tries to keep her husband under her thumb. Sanjay is always under dilemma on what to do. He is thoroughly confused and a complete contrast from his wife. Indeed Sanjay is under stress after a car has been bought with Amar’s fixed deposit money. His father after all keeps on asking him about the money. Wait and watch as to how this issue is resolved. The creatives are however now concentrating on the Riddhima track.
I have often wondered how Amar and Sanjay would get along, how was their brotherly relationship? Maybe we could see flashbacks of the Amar and Sanjay relationship some time…
When Amar’s flashbacks were shown they were mainly with Megha. You are right, the brotherly relationship hasn’t really been explored through flashbacks.
Do you feel upset that your role hasn’t got all that much footage?
I was initially told that Sanjay Vyas was to actively participate in the legal case against Amar. In fact both Sanjay and Vedkant Vyas were to accompany both Megha and Mohan to Bhopal. However Sanjay finally didn’t accompany them.
I wish I was a lady on the show and not a man. Then maybe I would get more scenes. Women characters generally have more prominence than male characters on Indian TV. Then maybe I would have got more chance to show my talent.
Did Sanjay have one son as he wasn’t too well off? However Tannu being the only child, don’t you think he gets a bit lonely? Unfortunately he isn’t too close to his cousins (Megha’s kids)…
Yes that is why Sanjay had one son. Tannu’s role I feel has been overshadowed. Yes, Tannu is lonely and not close with his cousins.
Do you think Sanjay should try to be even closer with Megha’s kids (his nephew and niece)?
For sure. However he is too confused about what he should do.
