“Dark is ridiculed, not fair complexion”- Mitali Nag
We in talks with the intelligent and mature Mitali Nag, who plays Krishna on Zee TV’s Afsar Bitiya
Krishna was dethroned from her position as a BDO officer. However she isn’t a defeated person. In fact she is aspiring for more now. She is desirous of being an IAS officer. Please comment.
Our message to the viewers is that no matter what happens, please don’t give up. Despite rejections and disappointments, move forward in life and remain positive. Grief is a part of life. Also Krishna was very attached to her father. The loss of he being alive no more is immense. However she doesn’t openly show her grief. She is very strong. If she breaks down then it may be difficult for her family members to cope with this tragedy. She is therefore being an inspiration to them.
Many Indian husbands get insecure when their wife is more successful. However Pintoo Singh is an encouraging husband and not the least bit insecure. Please comment.
It is true that many Indian husbands get insecure if their wives are more professionally successful, Pintoo Singh is not like that. He is a very good husband. I guess women look for their dad in their husband. After Krishna’s father’s death, Pintoo Singh is being a father to Krishna.
When will Krishna and Pintoo become proud parents?
I have no idea. Not right now though. Krishna is currently living in her mom’s house. Pintoo is living in his dad’s house.
A few months ago when I had visited the sets you were sleep deprived and trying to catch up on some sleep in between the shots. Why were you sleep deprived at that time? Are you better now?
It is better than before. At that time I was shuttling between two sets- the Mira Road set and the Malad set. Krishna’s office and in-law’s house are in the Mira Road set. Her parental home is in the Malad set. Now I am mostly on one set.
You had also told me that you don’t like it when people go on telling you that you are dark. Please elaborate.
People think that fairer people are better looking. Dark is ridiculed, not fair complexion. People often look down upon your other talents if you are dark. They just pick on your dark complexion.
Which historical character would you like to play given the opportunity?
It would be Jhansi Ki Rani. She was a warrior, daughter, wife and mother.
What are your hobbies?
I like music, singing, films, reading and cooking.
Who are your good friends in the TV industry?
Besides TV actors I am friends with creative directors and stylists in the TV industry too. I am friends with many film actors too.
Are you open to doing a negative role?
If I am offered a very tempting negative role I may accept it. However I will cross that bridge when the time comes. For now I am happy that God has blessed me with a positive role.
What would you like to change on Indian TV?
Now we have mainly family dramas on TV. There should be more genres on TV- thrillers, horror etc.
