DETAILED UPDATE
Indu’s room
I thought he’d abandoned his plate on his bed the previous episode, but how this brute proves me wrong at every step. After watching Sanchi leave, Indu storms back into his room, picks up his plate, offers his gratitude to the Lord for his meals and then takes the plate back downstairs to hand it to Veenaji.
Hall/Kitchen
When he does catch sight of Veenaji in the hall; he stands there silently, not knowing how to react for what he’d done. Irked, Veena just flashes him an angry glare and proceeds to the kitchen. Once there, she is in for a shock – Not only had the Tiwaris messed up her kitchen, they’d started storing eggs and the sort in her fridge too.
Just as a frustrated Veena is trying to come to terms with the sorry state of the room, Indu walks in to offer his apologies. His plate still in his hand, he speaks up in a humble tone ‘I have come to apologize for what I’d done… I know I am wrong…but I’m not so bad that I’d steal someone else’s food… neither am I handicapped…not do I have the habit of grabbing morsels meant for someone else…’
‘You apologized? So? My daughter is still hungry, isn’t she?’ Veena retaliates angrily
Indu lowers his eyes, the obvious guilt in them speaking more than any word he could express.
‘She’ll remain hungry for the entire day!’ Veena concludes ‘And all because of you…’
‘Why will she remain hungry?’ Indu replies trying to pacify the distressed mother ‘If I’ve stolen what was meant for her…I will give her what was meant for me…I promise you…’ (Swooonnn!!!)
Refusing to be convinced by his words, Veena snubs the young man as he walks away.
Soon after, Radha waltzes in to the kitchen, followed by a silent Anita. Needless to say, the two ladies get embroiled in a brief quarrel. Fed up of being forced to share her kitchen with such vagabonds, a flustered Veena forgoes any thought of preparing meals for her family and leaves from there.
Tarachand’s room
Entering her room, Veena fumes and seethes about all that happened that morning. She has no kind words to spare for anyone – be it the Tiwaris or Indu Singh
After making a mockery of Indu’s promise to her, she tells herself that he was only putting on an act of nobility – an attempt to impress them.
Having overheard all that his wife was whining about, Tarachand enquires empathetically ‘Who’s acting noble now?’
‘Your son-in-law… who else?’
Her abrupt confession takes both her and Tarachand by shock. She quickly proceeds to correct herself ‘I m…m…mean I…Indu Singh!’
Irked by how his wife had referred to the intruder in their house, Tarachand warns her – his tone unforgiving ‘Don’t ever refer to that ruffian as my son-in-law again… it appears like you harbour wishes of making him sanchi’s husband and your son-in-law..if it’s so, get rid to those thoughts once and for all’
Eventually letting go of the awkwardness, Veena and Tarachand avert their conversation to the practical problems they were facing with having to share a kitchen with the Tiwaris.
Listening to his wife’s grievances, Tarachand comforts her by letting her know that he’d have his food outside and arrange for something for her and Sanchi too. The man then leaves to tend to some work.
Watching her famished husband walk away empty handed, the guilt-ridden Veena mutters sadly ‘Today because of Radha and that Indu Singh, both my husband and my daughter have left home hungry…’
The frontyard/porch
Sadanand is now engrossed in a new game – converting the Mathur porch to his makeshift legal consultancy office. On his way out, Tarachand catches the lawyer misusing his freedom and usurping yet another thing that wasn’t his. Needless to say, the old man is infuriated. He warns the man to stop his offensive behaviour and threatens him that he’d slap legal cases on him that would result in imprisonment. Barely moved by the intimidations, Sadanand ends up making an utter mockery of the handicapped man and his powerless struggles.
Veena steps out to investigate the source of the clamour and swiftly realizes what was going on. She tries restraining her husband lest the altercation resulted in another physical battle. Just then, Radha struts on to the porch with a plate of smelly omlettes in her hand and lovingly offers it to her husband, ordering the onlookers to look away.
Not surprisingly, this act peeves the Mathur’s even more. Veena ends up showing her profound displeasure at Radha ‘You’ve snatched my kitchen…you’re able make omlettes and the lot for your husband… while, my husband is leaving home hungry…now what do you say about it?’
Not too unlike her husband, Radha also spews equally derogatory remarks and rebuttals against the family, thus forcing the Mathur’s to silently leave the porch in defeat.
University
Sanchi assures her father over phone that she’d buy something to eat from the canteen and that he need not worry for her. After completing the call, Mehek begins questioning her friend as to why she was puttng up with the torturous Tiwaris and doing nothing to drive the squatters away.
However, what could Sanchi singlehandedly do. The harassed girl confesses that she was vexed by their disgusting behaviour and that the 6 month sentence was as bad for her parents, as it was for her! Their house lacked peace – be it day or night! As Sanchi begins wondering when her problems would come to an end, Mehek tries offering her friend encouragement, stating that 6 months would fly by very soon.
Just then, the girls are interrupted by a young lad who hands Sanchi a parcel – it was a packet of food. Convinced that Sanchi’s father must have sent the food for his daughter, Mehek gladly goads Sanchi to open the packet and gulp down the food. However, Sanchi is curious. Dubiously opening the parcel, she find an order of Poori and Aloo wrapped within.
Sanchi’s suspicions only become inflamed ‘My father could not have sent this…he knows that I don’t like to eat fried food…’
She pauses for a moment and reflects on the incidents that morning. The sender could be none other than Indu Singh.
Canteen
Yogi and Guddu join their leader in the canteen, informing him that his bidding had been carried out. They’d sent for some food to bhabhiji and that too through another person!
‘She wouldn’t accept it if we gave it to her personally’ they comment
‘Good job guys…’ he thanks his friends, as he sips on his tea ‘I don’t like to owe anyone debts…I want to finish any obligations then and there…I owed her this morning’s breakfast , now that’s done too!’
Suddely, a parcel is slapped on the table in front of him.
Indu warily looks up and finds an enraged Sanchi standing beside him ‘You seem to be very fond of settling debts…’ she accuses him ‘What do you think of life… is it like a pencil sketch to you…something you created just to while time and something you try to correct when it satisfies you…’
So used to hearing her belittling lectures, Indu just lets out a nonchalant smile and continues sipping on his tea. Sanchi goes on – her manner still as irate as ever ‘What do you want to prove by doing all this? That you are a great man…that you care for me so much…at home you trouble me by eating my food and now in front of these people you want to show off like a hero?’
Ultimately yielding to her instigations, Indu pats his hand and stands up to face her. Still munching on his samosa, he responds calmly ‘Firstly, whatever you want to think, think…but don’t mistake someone needlessly…secondly, I am not too keen on making a big deal out of everything…I promised sasuma…so I fulfilled that promise…you remained hungry because of me…so…’
‘Because of you?’ she questions him with a sorry frown ‘Do you even know how much I’m going through because of you…but at least don’t put up an act of trying to solve my issues and make life worse for me…even I know what a well-wisher of mine you are…’ Sanchi then pauses for a moment ‘You seem to yearn to try and be a GOOD HUSBAND…then I’ll help you achieve that dream of yours…I’ll show you that becoming a GOOD HUSBAND is no cakewalk’
Indu stares at her in dismay for a few moments. Glaring back at him, Sanchi grabs Mehek by her hand and then drags her away from the scene.
The boys are thoroughly puzzled – obviously, understanding the ‘language of girls’ is no easy task! But, understanding the language of Sanchi was even harder!
University terrace
Mehek who is engrossed in a phone call looks up to find Abhimanyu waiting beside her – he wanted to have a conversation with her. She ends her call and then steps aside to give the man some time
‘I want to help Sanchi, but Indu should NOT learn about any of this’ Abhimanyu abruptly claims
‘Why so sympathetic suddenly? Why the offer?’ Mehek asks
‘You know very well that there was a time when I was in love with Sanchi’ Mehek tries restraining her laughter, while the man continues ‘Even now I want only good for her…that she should be happy wherever she is…’
‘Oh…so what can you do for her?’
He blushes for a second and then regroups himself ‘Anything you want to or need to know about Indu Singh’s gang, I can tell you… everything that goes on…that way Sanchi can avenge herself very easily…this would be helpful to her, right?’
‘Fine…you take my mobile number and any information you have for Sanchi tell me…’ Mehek gives him her number
Watching him leave, the girl is suddenly gripped by a pang of anxiety ‘Hope I’ve done nothing wrong by trusting this fellow and giving him my number…oh Lord please let everything be all right!’
As he steps down from the university stairs, Abhimanyu stares at his mobile with a wry smile ‘Generally, she doesn’t even bother about me and today, she’s given me her number…wonder if she has something else up her sleeve!’
The Mathur’s
With the shoes still on his legs, Sadanand is relaxing on the couch and dictating some legal documents to his assistant. Though distressed by the scene, Tarachand lets it go – he was too tired to deal with anything now.
Entering his bedroom, he watches Veena sitting on her bed with her head in her hands. Once ensuring she was well, Tarachand then goes on to reveal that he was suffering from a headache. The concerned wife immediately offers to massage him with some medicinal oil. However, Tarachand replies that he’d prefer having some hot tea instead. Nervous, Veena lets him know that Radha was currently busy in the kitchen and that once the Tiwaris were done with their tea, she’d go ahead and make one for him.
Sanchi, who’d entered their room a moment ago takes less than a second to comprehend what was happening ‘What!’ she asks her parents ‘This is our house…you don’t have to beg or plead in front of them for everything…the more you grovel, the more they’ll ill treat you…if we continue remaining quiet like this…their arrogance will only increase…first they usurped the hall..now the kitchen…I’ll see to them!’
Veena tries stopping her, but Sanchi is not one to endure suffering lightly.
Thundering into the kitchen, she watches Radha occupying both burners. Sanchi is exasperated
Precap
Indu and Sanchi are raising a storm. Sanchi is accusing Indu’s family of torturing her own and how she was not ready to endure any more harassment from their end
‘I’ll show them where they belong’ Sanchi yells
‘You’ll show me where I belong?’ Indu shouts back ‘If that foolish judge had not ordered us to stay under one roof, I’d not even be seeing your face!’
‘Yes you are right…she is the cause of all this turmoil…if she hadn’t ordered us to stay together, we wouldn’t have to put up with each other’
Sanchi stops abruptly. She realizes that someone was at their doorstep listening to their quarrels – it was the judge who’d dropped by to pay them a visit. If the old lady was a domineering prude in the court room, I wonder what she’ll be now!
