Jail
The scene starts at the jail, where Indu attempts to get in touch with Sada mama through the phone at the station. His efforts are dampened when the constable lets him know that his uncle could not speak to him at that point of time.
As the constable walks away, a displeased Indu muses to himself ‘Oh! So, Mama is in the middle of a court case… and Guruji in the middle of some work…wonder what’s going on!’
Infuriated, he hurls the glass of water on the floor ‘My time…my fate…nothing is working in my favour now…but let me get out of this place… and then I’ll make sure I interrogate everyone thoroughly…’
Staff room
‘I will teach all of those students a lesson… and this Sanchi Mathur…she seems to be obsessed with her mission of trying to save Swetha Jha!’ Shukla agonizes, as he prances about the empty staff room. While doing so, he accidentally collides into his colleague who’d just walked into the room. Observing the professor’s sweaty face, Janardhan enquires about the reason for his angst.
Shukla stutters to come up with a reply ‘I’m not worried…I don’t know anything… Indu Singh is in jail… Sanchi Mathur is going to be the student leader…’
Smirking at Shukla’s obvious nervousness, Janardhan asks ‘Why are you so worried that Indu Singh is now behind bars? Do you have any connection with all of this?’
‘What do you mean…I am Indu Singh’s teacher, why would I have anything to do with any of his ill deeds…stop flinging baseless accusations at me…’
Briefly exchanging a few unpleasant words and glances with his adversary, Shukla then decides to make his way out of the staff room.
Hospital
Reaching the hospital, Shukla mulls on his vicious murderous plan – an insurance for the safety of his own life and future. Approaching Swetha Jha’s room, Shukla notices a constable guarding the door and comes up with an idea to distract the police man. Ringing up the reception of the hospital, Shukla acts like he was calling from the police station and asks to speak to the officer stationed outside Swetha’s room. No sooner than the constable receives the information and leaves to attend his call, Shukla slides into the unfortunate girl’s room.
Spewing out a few vindictive words, the professor moves forth to remove the oxygen mask from Swetha’s face, when he hears a nurse outside. Just as the lady walks in, Shukla manages to temporarily hide himself under Swetha’s bed. Once the nurse finishes her routine examination, the vile man returns to what finish what he had started. Removing the mask from Swetha’s face, he watches in glee as the subconcious girl starts gasping for breath. In an endeavour to make the crime scene appear more like an ‘accident’ rather than a murder attempt, he ruffles the blanket from Swetha’s bed. (I don’t know what he was trying to achieve here)
Just as Shukla had done the deed and was about to step out of the room to evade suspicion, he is aghast. He comes across the emerging figures of his most potent threats – unfortunately for him, Sanchi and Mehek had decided to visit Swetha precisely at that time!
Walking towards Swetha’s room, Sanchi was busy expressing her thoughts to Mehek, when she notices the lack of security outside. Complaining about the situation, she enters the room when she is appalled to find the helpless patient struggling for life. She raises an alarm and a doctor and nurse join them within a few moments.
Hiding behind the screen in a corner of the room, Shukla watches the frantic ongoings as the team try to return the comatose girl to relative normalcy. While doing so, the nurse mentions that everything had been fine with Swetha hardly a few minutes ago and wonders how the oxygen mask had suddenly lodged off.
Witnessing the unfolding events, Sanchi is lost in her own thoughts, wondering if any of it indicated to signs of foul play.
Trying to take advantage of the fact the the people in the room were engrossed in tending to the patient, Shukla tries to step away. However, he is caught by Sanchi just as he is at the door.
‘Sir, you here’
The unnerved man tries to cover up his act ‘You look tensed Sanchi…is something wrong? I..I just came here…’
Sanchi is not entirely convinced. She explains slowly ‘Swetha’s oxygen mask had come off…so she’s not too well…’
Donning a facade of concern, Shukla takes the doctor to task for negligence and then follows up on the same routine with the guard outside the door.
His tirade is interrupted only when the nurse steps out to let the visitors know that Swetha’s pulse and heart rates had returned to normal.
Staring at a now relieved Sanchi and Mehek, Shukla chips in restlessly ‘H…Hopefully, she gets well soon.. any time you need help… please let me know…’
Saying so, he starts walking away leaving behind a dubious Sanchi and Mehek
Horrified by his ill luck, the professor frets to himself on reaching the bottom of the stairs ‘Sometimes, Indu turns out to be her messiah and sometimes Sanchi…huh!’
After learning from his explanations that the stationed constable had been distracted by a couple of blank calls, Sanchi’s suspicions are confirmed ‘Something feels strange…strange about all of this…there is someone who desperately wants to kill Swetha…’
She then proceeds to recall the nurse’s words and the fact that Swetha’s bed sheet had been moved ‘How could a girl in a coma move her sheet… someone would have been there to do it…’
‘Well…Indu is in jail now..so who could it be?’ questions Mehek (the very statement that we’ve all been dying to hear!)
Sanchi begins pondering in concern ‘Something about all of this does not feel right…Swetha needed money…and then Indu Singh kidnaps her…and a few days later, Indu Singh brings Swetha to the hospital’ darting her friend a confounded stare, Sanchi continues intensely ‘If Indu singh was speaking the truth, then why did he kidnap Swetha…and if he was lying, then why did he have to bring her to the hospital’
A few seconds later, the engrossed Sanchi arrives at a wise conclusion ‘He was probably acting on someone else’s orders!’
Just then she gets a call from Ragini. The call provides her with another vital piece of information – that Swetha and another girl namely Tanya were overheard discussing about a monetary issue worriedly. All this happened only a couple of days before Swetha’s suicide attempt.
University
Following up on the clue given by Ragini, Sanchi and Mehek reach the hostel in order to investigate the issue. However, on reaching Tanya’s room they are disappointed to find it locked from outside
‘We need to find an address for Tanya Sharma’ Sanchi muses hurriedly and they rush off to the university records room.
Soon after, Shukla also reaches Tanya’s hostel room. Discovering it to be locked from outside, he wonders where she’s gone off to. (Is this guy is seriously running a racket here)
Arriving at the office, Sanchi requests the clerk for the address of Tanya Sharma stating that she needed it in accordance with the Swetha Jha case. Bringing forth no objection, the officer hands over the related records and the girls manage to locate Tanya’s address in no time.
Tanya’s house
Apprehensive about barging in a stranger’s house, Mehek confesses her apprehension to Sanchi. However, Sanchi reminds her that they were doing it only to find out the truth and to solve the mystery behind Swetha’s case.
On reaching the patio of the house, Sanchi and Mehek stumble across Tanya’s mother discussing something with the worried girl ‘If your father came to know that the 40,000 Rs I gave you was to bribe a professor, both of us would be in grave trouble!’
‘All this is because of me’ Tanya admits to her mother sadly ‘I’ve put both myself and you into trouble’
‘Tanya, if you want… you can get both yourself and your mother out of this grave situation!’
Interrupted from her sordid thoughts, Tanya looks up to discover Sanchi and Mehek standing a short distance away. The girl is shocked!
Not wanting to be involved in any further hassle pertaining to the dark issue, Tanya stands up and dashes inside her house.
Taken aback by Tanya’s reaction, Sanchi runs after the girl and pleads with her to co-operate ‘Please listen to me Tanya…for how long will you run away from the truth…for how long will you remain in hiding…Swetha is battling for her life…there have been two murder attempts on her so far…please tell us the truth…what’s happened…’
Struggling to close the door on Sanchi’s face, Tanya shouts angrily ‘Just leave…both of you…just leave…I don’t want to endanger my life like Swetha did…I don’t know anything and I don’t want to confess anything to you…’
Eventually, Tanya manages to shut the door. However, Sanchi continues banging on the door and requesting her to come out with the truth. After receiving little response, the relentless girl then walks to the side of the house and spots Tanya sitting at her dining table through a large window. Trying to reach out to the forlorn girl, the desperate Sanchi encourages her ‘We need to know the truth Tanya… I promise you, I’ll get you out of this problem too… trust me..’ she pauses ‘please tell us what this is all about.. hiding such things would only worsen the entire scenario’
Tanya gets up and walks away, while Sanchi looks on helplessly
