Adaalat 16th June 2012 Written Update

A novelist Nikhil Mishra is typing the final chapter of his latest and much awaited novel,”Maut ke Parinde”. He goes on typing in his laptop and the same sequence is being carried out in real. As he types, a man is shown doing the same. As per his story, at 1:30 PM, a man moves towards a house and strikes the door to open. He’s successful in the first attempt itself. He moves in Anupama’s room and she’s sleeping but suddenly opens her eyes. Before she could so anything, he grabs a pink dupatta and folds it around her neck. He squeezes the fold and Anupama breadths her last. Then the killer Anuj, scatters flowers on her body and her lucky coins on her eyes. After that, he plays an old gramophone record, of their childhood love. At last, he uses a spray can and writes, “You were mine, you are mine, and you’ll be mine”. This does happen in real with a lady.
Nikhil relaxes after typing and his wife comes. They have a casual chat and Nikhil tells her he will complete this one soon. He asks her to read but she refuses and says that she won’t read it at night. Nikhil’s publisher Shirish Dhawan calls him and asks him regarding the progress of “Maut ke parinde”. Nikhil tells him it’ll be ready till Monday. Shirish notifies him that he’s his biggest fan and just can’t wait for it. Nikhil replies he’s his mentor and assures him that the novel will be ready till Monday.

Two more writers are with Shirish and one among them is Gulshan Tripathi. They both boast and say they too are no less than Nikhil. Shirish tells him Nikhil’s stories are unique and there’s something in him which others don’t have. Their faces give the impression of being jealous.

In KD’s office, Mrs. Billomoria is shown reading Nikhil’s novel. KD arrives and wonders why she didn’t call anyone to repair the lock and she gives no response. He goes near her and utters something having a look on the novel and that breaks her attention and she’s scared. She advices KD to read Nikhil’s novels but he tells her that his cases are already thrilled so he doesn’t need to read them. He asks her to read the novel in Hindi instead. Mrs. Billomoria tells him about Nikhil’s next novel and his Tilotma wife enters. She reveals that Nikhil has been arrested in the murder case of Rajini Kayst. KD states someone among his fans must have killed her being inspired through his book. Tilotma tells him that the book “Maut ke parinde” hasn’t been published yet.

Gulshan Tripathi and the other writer are sitting in a restaurant. They discuss about Nikhil being arrested. Gulshan claims that now his fans will be even more eager to read his unpublished novel and this will benfit him. If he manages to get out of the jail, the benefit would increase even more.

KD visits the lockup where Nikhil is and Shirish stops him mid way. He expresses his joy on seeing him and asks him to save Nikhil. He tells him that he’s here due to him and leaves. KD moves forward and asks who the man was. Nikhil tells him that he was his publisher Shirish. KD questions did he let anyone read his book to which Nikhil replies he never lets anyone read his book. His novel was in his laptop and his wife too is unaware of the password, he thinks someone read his brain. He further claims that he didn’t knew Rajini and she’s not even similar to his fictional character Anupama.

Court session begins. Jaisawal is reading the final chapter of “Maut ke parinde”. He praises Nikhil’s writing skills and asks why did he kill Rajini? KD objects and says that nothing has been found on the crime site which would prove Nikhil culprit.

Jaisawal reminds him that the process of murder and everything else is same. KD declares it isn’t. He further says that in case Rajini’s murder, color of the cloth is blue and not pink as per the story, jasmine flowers are used which doesn’t match the story and the spray was black in place of red.

Jaisawal appreciates his observation and raises his point reminding him that nobody had read the book. He asks Nikhil did he know Rajini. He responds he didn’t. He further asks did someone read his book to which Nikhil tells him nobody did read. KD questions how police arrested him on the basis of his book when they didn’t read it. Nikhil reveals that Shirish had told them.

Shirish comes in the witness box and discloses that a few days back Nikhil came in his office to tell him about the progress of his novel. He had his laptop with him and so when he went inside the bathroom, he quickly turned his laptop and read. KD inquires how he read the entire book in just five minutes. Shirish replies he just read the synopsis which clearly mentioned that the lead character dies on a bed of flowers. He met his friend commissioner in a party and he mentioned about Rajini’s murder and flowers all over her body. He mentioned Nikhil’s book then. KD understands why Shirish told him that Nikhil has been arrested due to him.

Jaisawal gets up and tries to copy KD’s style and accuses Shirish. KD appreciates his efforts. Nikhil defends Shirish and clarifies that he would have been in a great loss so he wouldn’t have done so. Shirish supports his statement and says he’s just like his son. Jaisawal goes near Nikhil and tells him to accept that he killed Rajini. KD objects and says he’s forcing his client.

He doubts that someone stole Nikhil’s book. He calls Gulshan Tripathi in the witness box. He reveals that the last chapter of “Maut ke parinde” was mailed to him as an attachment. He shows the ‘Send items” folder of Nikhil’s email account. Gulshan angrily looks at Tilotma and asks why she did this even when he warned her.

Tilotma is in the witness box. Nikhil asks why she sent his story to his biggest rival without his knowledge. She replies she did this for him. She further tells the court that Nikhil remained sad as he was stuck in the final part of his novel. They fought due to this. She just wanted peace so she talked to Gulshan and send him the last part so that he would give an idea to her and she would help Nikhil.

KD claims that three people had gone through the book, Shirish, Tilotma and Gulshan. So the doubt doesn’t remain on Nikhil. Jaisawal doesn’t agree and says that none of them knew Rajini. KD reminds him that even Nikhil doesn’t know her. Jaisawal questions Nikhil about Rajini. He frustrated and replies the same. Jaisawal shows him a photo of his with Rajini, in a mobile phone. KD is stunned and Nikhil remains speechless.

Jaisawal then calls Rajini’s brother Avinash Kayst. Avinash reveals that just a few days ago Rajini had told him that she had an affair with a writer till six months. She did a big mistake and now he’s refusing to break this relationship. Avinash asked who the man is but she didn’t tell him and said she’ll handle the situation.
Nikhil accepts that he knew Rajini and had an affair with her but he hasn’t killed her.

In the lockup, KD tells him that he’s losing his trust on him. Nikhil tells him that he remained quite thinking about his reputation. KD gets angrier and asks is he hiding something else even. Nikhil tells him he had given a copy of his novel to Rajini but she didn’t return and now he has no idea where the copy is.

Mrs. Billomoria is reading a novel and Inspector Dave arrives outside a flat. A girl Shalini tells him that her sister isn’t picking up the calls since four days. Dave enters and orders his men to search. He spots something stuck in the fridge and opens it. Dead body of a lady was inside that. A man finds her photo with Nikhil Mishra.
